That’s how I ended up on lemmy, but I’ve seen more new memes in the past week than I’d probably seen all month on reddit.
So they’re shooting themselves in the foot. Good. I deleted my 15-year account back in 2023 after that greedy piece of shit, spez, screwed over the app devs. Only reason I ever visit reddit now is if it happens to be the end result of a google search. If they require me to log in to see it, then they will no longer get my traffic. And I suspect that will be the case for quite a lot of people.
Most real? Lol its all bots.
Someone has to upvote and comment on all the AI generated videos!
That picture on the side looks like it represents the least real place on the internet
Oddly looks like an off brand LittleBigPlanet Sackboy Spinoff

Slop will tend to mimic like that.
However, it IS representative of the content on the platform.
Ugh goddammit. I still check a handful of long running CW post chains from some writers/users whose stories I’ve become invested in… but I guess I’m done with that now :(
Redlib is good as a front-end for reddit without needing to sign in, I use the catsarch instance normally but there’s a few public instances or you can self-host it.
Ooh, good protip! I’ll have to check that out.
Old.reddit.com still seems to be going, at least for a while longer. Same for old.reddit.com’s RSS.
Old reddit is now forcing an account.
Seems to be rolling in waves, going by other comments.
Ars Technica had an article about it recently:
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/06/reddit-will-require-you-to-log-in-to-use-old-reddit-com/
Old.reddit just started requiring an account recently, too
old.reddit is region based so it’ll eventually get phased out from working for everyone.
Like I found that with VPN Sweden is still one place where old.reddit still works without login. But, others prompt for login to use old.reddit.
But, I just moved to using redlib instance if reddit is needed now due to not wanting to login to an account.
https://github.com/redlib-org/redlib-instances/blob/main/instances.md
Use old.reddit.com
Old Reddit doesn’t work unless you have an account.
Not yet, at least from my side:
I made this exact post a week ago after saying it was working for me on chrome mobile and got downvoted to shit lol people were big mad
Just tried it and it’s working for me too. Don’t know why you’d even bother with that site without an account to filter out all the default bullshit though.
The other day old.reddit was still working for me. Until it wasn’t anymore. Unfortunately its coming.
Some days it works for me in the morning and then not after lunch.
The change is being rolled out gradually, probably to test if they see a negative impact to their metrics from it.
Same here. Works fine for me!
I MEAN NO, ITS HORRIBLE! DOESNT WORK FOR SHIT. DONT BOTHER UPDATING OLD, REDDIT! JUST MOVE ON BECAUSE ITS JUST SO BAD! SPEZ IS GOD! REDDIT IS GREAT! YAY REDDIT! LOVE THE APP!
It works well for me without…
We can’t promise it will be around forever, but [Reddit CEO Steve Huffman] himself has said we’ll keep supporting it while folks are still using it. That said, it doesn’t have the same modern security tech stack reddit.com has, so we need to tighten security on old reddit to keep it viable.
That piece of shit spez is stating its a requirement, I cannot access without logging in.
Old Reddit’s logged-out experience is a significant source of abusive scraping and automated traffic on the platform. It’s also an important interface for many long-time mods and Redditors. To strike the right balance between preserving your access to Old Reddit while preventing abusive scraping and automated traffic, over the next month we will start requiring everyone to log in.
This was posted less than a month ago, so you must be the lucky last few who can still access it. Enjoy it while you can I guess.
I don’t know if you saw the news, but they will soon require accounts for old reddit
Someone wanna just make an account using a burner email and share the credentials here? Lol
Surely someone has built a site similar to xcancel but for Reddit.
Iirc there was one already? Since Old Reddit was still working, I never bothered to check, but I remember people mentioning some years back.
@enkonju@lemmy.world, I think this is it, the Nitter-like sites you mention?:
https://github.com/redlib-org/redlib-instances/blob/main/instances.mdIt was mentioned in another comment here in the replies:
https://piefed.ca/comment/5661844Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for!
Ooh, tyvm!
