Washington and Moscow are aiming to reach a deal to halt the war in Ukraine that would lock in Russia’s occupation of territory seized during its military invasion, according to people familiar with the matter.

Putler might be aiming to reclaim Alaska and agent krasnov would just handle it to him with roses on the top.
I’ve seen a comment like this on a couple posts. What is driving this thought at all? Is there some sort of article or something that leads people to believe this would even happen? Why?
It’s been common knowledge for a long time that Trump is Putin’s asset, because Putin’s got dirt on him that even he is embarrassed by (and also because he loves dictators so much that he’d do anything one asks of him even without the blackmail).
Yeah, the Putin and Trump in cahoots part I know and understand. It’s the selling Alaska back. Taking away a state and lessening what America is probably won’t sit well with his base even if they don’t care about Alaska itself. It’s been a staple for long enough and has oil so I’m not sure they would be ok with it in the continental US.
I could be totally off though. I dunno.
The part you’ve missing is that it’d be Trump selling Alaska, not the USA.
He’d do it in such a way that he’d get most of the money, while presenting it as the yugest deal in history.
His base wouldn’t like it? Who cares, certainly not Trump. It’s not like he plans to hold any elections ever again. (You underestimate how much of a cult MAGA is, though; most of them would happily drink whatever coolaid he tries to sell them.)
It’d be economically, politically, and diplomatically disastrous? Sure, but what has he done that hasn’t been one, two, or more often than not all of the above? He doesn’t care either. He’ll keep on grifting until he dies or until he can’t squeeze any more money out of the country, at which point he’ll scamper away with his gains.
Plus, with Alaska in Russian hands he and Putin could invade Canada from both ends, and soon sign another yuuge deal splitting it up in whatever way benefits Putin the most. A definite win-win in Trump’s eyes.
Well, here’s hoping that theory is wrong then.
Based on something that there are pro russian reublicans in Alaska which “they think they would be better under russian rule “because they already live like russians in Siberia” And have more common with russians anyway”
Probably few inbred rednecks that first time opened a history book about Alaska and found out it used to be under russian ownership a long time ago “the typical inbred redneck brightness while probably drunk and few braincels working nothing that special so”.
These statements were actually started by some alaskans themselves same time as russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Putler never had said anything about that himself but some russians did comment on the article saying they should help the pro russian alaskans free Alaska.
Because there is support for returning old russian land to russia and it when it was sold for us it was too low price which he blamed americans for tricking russians claim US never paid the full price for the land. And that’s why US doesn’t have the full ownership of the land he used similar claims about Crimea in 2014.
So presumably:
- US and Russia make ‘deal’
- Ukraine doesn’t stop defending themselves
- Surprised pikachu face?
If they can keep defending themselves without their largest donor of money and weapons, on the same level, it would be indeed a surprised Pikachu face.
The EU has surpassed the US in total aid and the rate of financial aid roughly doubled right as it almost flat-lined under Trump. Things will be worse but by no means a total defeat.
Yeah, if you aggregate most of other countries help it will surpass US. Which just tells you how much of it was US help. I admire your optimism.
Is the US still sending aid now? I thought they stopped.
I know the US is letting the EU buy weapons for Ukraine. Would that stop?
It seems that the most valuable asset Ukraine has in its arsenal are its domestically produced drones. The US wants to invest in those to further its own interests. This is likely to proceed regardless of the war.
As far as I understand, the help allocated by Biden is having a lasting effect for at least next three years. Trump did try to stop the deliveries earlier this year, but fortunately it got reversed a week later. But I am afraid this childman still can do something like this.
I just read a different article about this matter, and it looks like - at this point - this is all in Trump’s head. The summit is planned, according to anonymous insiders, but what does that really mean? Some Trump admin proposed it in an email, some Russian admin replied non-committally?
Until this becomes official this is just more sanewashing Rump’s brain rot.
Two bully countries fuelled by the stupid and ‘tough’ coordinate to carve up their lessers without inclusion.
Prediction that the USA will guarantee no NATO acceptance for Ukraine? lol.
Fuck you, Americans.
As an American, your ‘fuck you’ is totally justified, this is a third world county with the facade of a dream
(E) its called the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe it
Agreed. I live here and end up finding myself cursing this shithole every day I read the news. Fuck this place and half the people that live here.
Fuck two thirds of the people that live here. The third that voted for this anal fistula can eat my shit too. The third that didn’t vote can see firsthand what apathy gets you
I find myself much angrier at the third that did not vote at all than the third that voted for Trump.
A tiny fraction of those that stayed at home could have saved the world. What else did they have on that day?

I mean, that was always the plan, going back to the '91 breakup of the USSR. We’ve seen the process repeated from Bulgaria to Poland to Hungary to the former Yugoslavian states. Rigged elections, media consolidation, de-liberalization, ethnic antagonism egged on by fascist revanchists, ethnic cleansing, foreign intervention, and then expropriation of anything of value.
Ukrainians had clung to their domestic socialist industrial capacity for too long, so we had a nice war to bust them up and saddle them with enormous debts. But now Zelensky’s government has served its purpose. Western Ukraine’s been partitioned out to the US oligarchs. Eastern Ukraine’s been cleared out for a new Russian Lebensraum. All the young men have been press-ganged into abysmal, abusive unpaid jobs and all the young women have been swept up for export to the sweatshops and brothels.
Mission Accomplished.
Same shit we did in Iraq and Syria and the rest of the Levant. To Haiti and the Philippines and Argentina and Liberia, too. Same thing we’ve been trying to do to Cuba and Venezuela and Vietnam and Brazil and Mexico for the last 50 years.
Capitalism grinding away humanity in pursuit of profit. The only thing we failed to do was fully automatize the killing.
There seems to be one key party missing from this deal.
This is trump’s MO. He did the same thing with Afghanistan, meeting with just the Taliban and leaving the Afghan government out of the negotiations.
It’s a lesson they learned from Israel: make inacceptable demands. When the enemy predictably says no deal, you can point to that, then turn to the world and say: “See? That’s what you get for trying. Now we can carve them up with a good conscience.”
Isn’t this what Russia already agreed to in 2014 — with the exception that, back then, it made the agreement with Ukraine, not the US?
We already know that they’ll just pause the fighting until they think they have the advantage… again.
I mean, this style of negotiation worked sooo well in Afghanistan.
I feel like this is a repeat of February. Or was it March.
I thought Trump realised he was being played like a fiddle? Or has he forgot……oh
Surely appeasement will work this time and Putin won’t come back for another slice of the salami.
As opposed to what other time?
Munich, 1938.
The munich agreement reached between Germany, UK, France and Italy about the annexation of Czechoslovakia? Before Putin was even born?
Yes, the classic example of giving an aggressive expansionist power what they want in the hope that they’ll be satisfied and stop there.
Ah I see what you mean, I recently watched this video, from a Ukrainian in Kharkov translated by a Ukrainian in Mariupol comparing Ukranian totalitarianism under war to the one in Russia. Very interesting stuff.
This was always the plan.
