The challenge here is that it takes more than money to solve world hunger.

You also need some way to prevent the greedy from hoarding food and using it as a weapon to subjugate others, keeping them hungry.

As usual, the problem isn’t lack of food or lack of money, it’s greedy people not wanting to share.

  • In my area, the leaves turned from green to brown two weeks ago and fell off last week — something that normally happens at the end of September/beginning of October.

Temperatures are still in the early Autumn range with no dips below freezing yet this season, although it’s finally starting to get close. In past years, it wasn’t unheard of to have snow for Halloween.

  • The Roma are an easy target because traditionally, they haven’t owned land and have been their own political entity, not beholden to any local government.

This makes them difficult to control, which makes them extremely dangerous to property-based politicians.

Think of it— Western government is generally based on the premise that people who live in defined geographic areas select representatives to govern them. And the Roma live wherever they want, with their own language, culture and politics, and can’t be manipulated based on where they live and who controls that land.

  • A good solution to China dumping green tech on the market?

Everyone else ALSO dumps green tech on the market.

Yeah, there’s the problem with rare earth refinement, but that just means someone has to come up with a green solution that’s cheaper than China abusing its population and destroying its ecosystem to provide rare earths.

In other words, the solution to China dumping and accruing the costs isn’t political, it’s to beat them at their own game, in an ethical way. And it should be possible. Maybe not with CEOs pulling down trillion dollar bonuses, but if the people at the top tightened their belts, it could easily be done.

Just imagine if a few countries considered ecological defense to be a significant part of their military budget.

  • I saw a documentary about a group that tried this during Trump’s first term in office.

The locals just referred to them as whacko American tourists, sold them kitsch, and otherwise left them alone, other than for the Canadian locals to politely refuse them entry to Canadian or environmentally restricted areas and facilities.

The locals (both Canadian and American) figured eventually some nutjob from away would make a bigger stink, but until then, they saw things as relatively in hand.

I’m surprised Noem hasn’t showed up there yet, like she did to the library that straddles the border.
