651·2 days agoWhy did people immediately connect Night Watch with GoT’s Night’s Watch, when there’s both a perfectly good book and TV miniseries by the name that seems much more apropos?
Why not both-and?
And I’d bet that even some of the individual accounts are opportunists who have since become state influenced.
It doesn’t make good headlines though.
The challenge here is that it takes more than money to solve world hunger.
You also need some way to prevent the greedy from hoarding food and using it as a weapon to subjugate others, keeping them hungry.
As usual, the problem isn’t lack of food or lack of money, it’s greedy people not wanting to share.
In my area, the leaves turned from green to brown two weeks ago and fell off last week — something that normally happens at the end of September/beginning of October.

Think of it— Western government is generally based on the premise that people who live in defined geographic areas select representatives to govern them. And the Roma live wherever they want, with their own language, culture and politics, and can’t be manipulated based on where they live and who controls that land.

Everyone else ALSO dumps green tech on the market.
Yeah, there’s the problem with rare earth refinement, but that just means someone has to come up with a green solution that’s cheaper than China abusing its population and destroying its ecosystem to provide rare earths.
In other words, the solution to China dumping and accruing the costs isn’t political, it’s to beat them at their own game, in an ethical way. And it should be possible. Maybe not with CEOs pulling down trillion dollar bonuses, but if the people at the top tightened their belts, it could easily be done.
Just imagine if a few countries considered ecological defense to be a significant part of their military budget.
That would ignore the fishery though.
There’s two layers to the warped reality; the second layer is in social media reacting to the news feeds instead of spending time and energy discussing forward-looking topics.
Is it a blind spot? They did discover and shut down those Chinese “police stations” in Germany….
I think the first will be contingent on the second?
I for one am perplexed; what is that company actually getting out of these affiliate signups? Even after people start paying, it’s costing them more than they’re making, and when they finally charge maintainable rates, everyone can just stop subscribing and lose nothing of value.
My regular walking speed is 8km/h… when I run distances it’s ~13km/h, and if I’m sprinting it can be over 20km/h.
They’re essentially saying the speed limit is set to swimming pool deck speeds.
