One of the biggest indicators of whether a country is a fascist country is that other fascists flee to that country.

Eh. This is more an indication that Lulu, specifically, has learned his lessons from his first turn at the Presidency and isn’t going to wait around for the Bolsonaros to organize a coup against him.

Look at Columbia or El Salvador or Ecuador or Chile. They all had a turn at Biden tier liberalism, let the fascism feaster under their watch, and then got flipped to reactionary dictatorships in the next cycle.

Lulu got jailed once. He came out stronger and smarter. He’s too old to get shoved back into prison again.

Well, the US famously don’t like immigrants, so I’m sure the fine boys from ICE will sort him out.

    What?

What do you mean it doesn’t matter because he’s rich?

Well, that’s an oddly unprincipled stance to take. So, perfectly good foreign nationals with low net worth will be incarcerated but literally the devil himself would not if he had wealth?

Yes I know who Elon Musk is…

lol if dems win they’ll shrug and let it all go so the country can “heal”. Same thing happened after Watergate and Iran Contra. Rich people don’t face consequences here

You are behind the times. The Dems are making lots of plans to investigate MAGAs when they take over the House and Senate. Jeffries has already set up several committees, assuming he remains Speaker (I hope he gets replaced). The House Dems just released their report on Trump’s involvement in the Epstein Files, signaling that it will be a primary investigation.

After Jan 6, I argued with MANY who said there would be no justice for the Insurrectionists, and yet, step by step, they eventually imprisoned well over 1000 Traitors. Trump later pardoned them, but the fact remains that those who assumed the Dems would do nothing were entirely wrong.

And they’re wrong about this as well. I just watched an interview with a Dem member of Congress who said that we absolutely cannot go back to the old ways of doing things, if we expect to regain the trust of the rest of the world. He said we have to make major systemic changes, and rebuilding after MAGA gives us the perfect opportunity to remake the government properly.

Your wish that MAGA gets away with their crimes will not come true.

        • Where do we start with remaking the government properly? Remove the electoral college? End the two party system? Rewrite the Constitution? None of this is going to happen, and although I hope I’m wrong, I believe after one cycle of having Democrats in power the people will say they didn’t do shit and go right back to the Republicans.

“wish” lol, my only wish is democrats actually grow a spine one single time in the last 50 years

Original comment was specifically about Trump anyway, he will never face consequences because dems are afraid of him and his followers. Otherwise he’d already be in prison for the insurrection. Or at the very least not allowed to run again because him being on the ballot directly violated the 14th amendment. Trump will pardon himself and issue a blanket pardon for all his henchmen and the dems will say “aw shucks well what are you gonna do?” or issue a strongly worded letter

It blows my mind just thinking this guy almost won the presidency of the second biggest country of the continent. Two days ago he was voting and lecturing about democracy.

Ok. I can’t figure out what you mean by “second biggest.” At first I assumed you meant “America” as the continent, rather than “South America,” since Brazil is the biggest country in the latter by quite a wide margin (it’s about four times the size of Argentina). But Brazil is the third largest Pan-American country after Canada and the US. So, ok, you must have a different definition in mind. Second-largest in the Southern hemisphere, maybe? But Brazil is bigger than Australia, by a million square kilometers.

Second-largest…uh…country with a large part of its mainland in UTC-3? (After Canada.) Second-largest country from which you can draw a direct line to Antarctica? (That one might be debatable, actually.) Second-largest country whose Northern border is closer to Canada than it is to its Southern border? (After the US, and yes, that’s true.)

      I need answers!

I was thinking about several things at the same time, but yeah, seems like I was also wrong in the most obvious one: area. However, it’s not that far away from the USA, being Alaska the deciding factor. Second in population and GDP.

That’s a good point about excluding Alaska in the area calculation; Alaska is almost 18% of the land area of the US, so pulling it is significant.

From the perspective of population, I honestly don’t know why I didn’t consider that when thinking through this originally. It seems so obvious in hindsight, lol.

GDP is a little bit more complicated. By pure GDP, it looks like Brazil and Canada kind of flip back and forth depending on the year (right now Brazil is just barely above Canada); though if you look at per-capita GDP, Canada is way higher up the list.

But I don’t think the are flipping back and forward anymore. Canada is facing a trade crisis now that the new NAFTA is over, and Brazil, if the current political environment settles as it should, is facing a brilliant future in BRICS, also being a power in Rare Earths. In any case, you can consider both 2nd in GDP. Finally, sure, GDP per capita is a whole different beast, that’s the whole struggle of our lives in the “global south”.

Not even close. South Africa is like an eighth the size of Brazil. Australia is significantly bigger than South Africa, too, though slightly smaller than Brazil; and Angola, Peru, a good chunk of Congo, and Argentina are all (a) South of the Equator, (b) bigger than South Africa, and © smaller than Australia.

Wait until he plays “President in Exile” in the US until Trump installs him back home, Venezuela-style.
