So like as an American, cool. Also as an American, and I’m sure I speak for most of us, we didn’t give a crap. Like as much as you think we care, it’s like 100th of that in reality.

        Speak for yourself.

Also, telling people you don’t care isn’t considered cool by anyone above the age of 14, and the older you get, the more pathetic it is.

…what? As an American, I care. I hope Canada comes out on top of this exchange and every exchange they’re unfortunate enough to be forced to have with us right now. I hope our economy gets fucked (just like it did previously).

I applaud Canada and every country that stands up to Trump. If the whole world just collectively cut us out of global politics and the economy, I’d applaud even louder. We deserve it.

I get it. False consensus aside, it’s a trope that Americans don’t much care about things outside their borders. Many Americans never cross a border, and for many people if it doesn’t affect them directly then it’s just noise in a busy day.

But with such long unguarded borders, minimal manufacturing, insufficient resources and a surplus of cash crops, it needs friends who will deal squarely with it and help secure those borders.

And when the oil and electricity run short, I hope America is cool paying “market prices” if we’re no longer best-buds.
