Cuz ya know, if there’s one thing Singapore is touchy about considering its long historical ties with the Middle East, it’s Palestine and the fate of Jews and Arabs there.

Honestly, what do they care? Don’t they have other things to worry about on the other side of the planet?

They care about enforcing censorship and keeping a lid on “politics” disrupting “social harmony”. Once again Palestine is an issue that unearths the deeper fractures and contradictions in a society.

They have put in proper rule of law, so not like ccp. And although it’s defacto single party, it’s not de jure. But yeah, freedom of expression-wise it’s below average.

Rule of law is not so different from corruption in Singapore which literally just a tax haven. It goes from “I know a guy who’ll take 100k to fix this” to “I know a guy who will incorporate a shell company for 100k to fix this”. All it does it makes corruption exclusive to mega rich.

CCP is not pro anything. It’s funny how autocracy founded on explicit design documents is one the biggest real politik actors out there.

“Oceania was at war with Eurasia: therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia.” - 1984

CCP officially justifies these as “use any means for achieving goals” and this is the entire party - just power for power sake. There’s no actual ideology or consciousness - it’s literally “The Party” from 1984. However I don’t want to discredit Chinese people who actually do make meaningful change but it’s in spite of CCP not because of it.

You’re not wrong but you’ll notice that all the countries that have made the strongest criticisms toward Israel are present in that list, like Spain and Ireland. Trade and geopolitics aren’t always compatible.

Yes but CCP controls all trade while it’s much harder in free democracies. If CCP actually cares about something it is done immediately. Just take a look at trade war with the US, CCP is always 10 steps ahead because they can move so fast as they can’t be held accountable. That’s actually why there are so many autocracy proponents in the west now - “democracy is too slow, we’re losing”.

Yes, also true that the CPC is more effective in their decision-making. However, I’d like to claim that a free democracy never existed in the west – at least not in a way that deserves to be described as such. This varies from country to country, but to put it in general terms, there is democracy in the west insofar that the populace doesn’t stray too far away from capitalist doctrine.

The past two-three decades have shown that. No single people would like the housing prices to be as high as they are, or to live in societies where essential services are slowly picked apart by capital. When we vote, we can get the change we want as long as it’s acceptable within the bounds of what the country’s oligarchy want. And we are steadily under the assault of desinformation campaigns that demonise anything thats left of center – something you can see in effect with every piece of propaganda hurled at China.

Every single mainstream party within every single western country has turned rightward, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a politician that runs on – or delivers – on leftist principles. That is the effect of capital in action. Capitalism cannot exist within democracy – it will devour the will of people, soon or late.

And this is not to mention the extent to which supposedly free countries have oppressed their peoples for speaking up for the plight of the Palestinians.

What you see in the US is the inevitable result of letting capital exist within democracy.

So no – “free democracies” don’t exist in the west. The CPC, for all its faults, seems to do good by its people. They have high approval within the Chinese populace. And as long as it’s American/Western actors accusing the CPC of whichever offense that they themselves were guilty of, and for fear of the emerging superpower that disproves their profit-driven economic models, then I won’t believe it. And neither should you.

You and so many are so deluded by propaganda about China. I used to believe it until I saw how these same sources lied so they effortlessly about Gaza and Palestine. Then I went to China to see it for myself – and it rocks. Housing is cheap, jobs are good and it’s hard to believe this was sold to me as a dystopian dictatorship.

Just like Trump has high approval among Fox viewers. Propaganda works.

I’ve been to China many times too and it does not rock lmao. You’ve been eating propaganda and it shows. China is extremely oppressive and it’s still incredibly underdeveloped despite LED covered cities you see on tiktok. It’s still a matchmaker and status driven society from 20th century despite EV tech.

Also freedom is not binary, the west is more free than China ever was. At least I can type “LGBT” to my chat app which you cannot do in China because CCP autocrats deem it “western propaganda”. None of this is a worthy sacrifice for faster decision making, I’d rather be slightly poorer but live in a healthier more free society.

                    You’re a fool.

USA gives zero shits about Singapore. They try to insert themselves into a narrative to try to feel relevant.
