I’m just not sure I believe Intel’s claim that Arc will continue: this is basically Arc’s biggest market they’re eating.
…And Intel is kinda toast if they let Arc wither away. “Placeholder graphics” aren’t gonna cut it for CPUs anymore.
It does sound like this initiative started before Trump.
It says they’ve only been working on this for a year, so that’s definitely not the case.
A year ago would be October 2024, so this was launched before the election in the US.
And trump’s been politically influential since 2016 at the very latest. There is no reason they wouldn’t be working with both/either candidate to try to ensure they get support from government in whatever way they want.
Just when AMD was finally ascendant. CPU/ GPU/ Memory all on package. Customers are going to get squeezed.
