At present Waydroid is a must. I mostly need it for Meshtastic/Meshcore stuff, Airam programmable light and socket stuff, Proton apps and Lemmy browser.

Ubuntu native software base is still quite poor.

You can run most linux terminal and desktop apps, but if you can’t find them from the OpenStore(snap) and get them to work in the regular environments (missing dependencies or priviledges) and need to use libertine environment, they don’t run in the background and desktop apps will need external keyboard, because onscreen keyboard usually doesn’t work.

Stopped listening to doctors and figured out by myself what’s wrong with me. It wasn’t GERD and the medication doctors made me eat, in increasing amouts, didn’t do shit. It was vagus-nerve oversensitivity and allergic reaction to uncooked allium family plants that caused an irritation in my esophagus.

it took decades, because allium allergy was really hard to spot and was skipped in all previous allergy screenings.

Here, if and when you get a doctors statement that the person is no longer in mentally stable state, you can apply to become a “caretaker” (not an option in OPs case), get a government appointed caretaker (useless shit if subject isn’t co-operating) or have him institutionalised against his will.

As you might guess doctors don’t sign something like that very easily.

One company tried to get rid of me for 4 years. I was hired as a development engineer for a pilot project. Project started slowly and after my trial period the project runner had a stroke and remained on a sick leave.

Nobody dared to touch the project or bother me. I took it far as I could. After that I had nothing to do and no funding to continue, so i just hung around.

Project runner never returned and eventually they were able fire/retire him.

Nobody killed the project, but no funding either.

Maintenance electrisionists were happy to take me along for the ride and for 3 years I was their “trainee” with engineers salary.

I learned the trade.

I even went to talk to the region manager about why I had absolut zero billed work during my time. He just laughed and nothing changed.

During my fifth year I finally quit. Salary was engineers salary, but still a small one. They were also about to promote me to a department chief in a shit position where all employees and manager had just resigned in protest.

6 months after I resigned the “stroke victim” called and wanted me keep his project alive, but I had to tell him that the ship had sailed and torpedoed some time ago.
