President signed the legislation championed by late senator Lindsey Graham last month but has waived the restrictions as they were due to come into effect

Maybe “the West” no longer exists. There’s just the US and then there’s Europe, and each of them is doing their own thing.

    I think Canada still exists…

While it’s not the same economic power or population, it shouldn’t be left off the list.

    Edit: hit send too early.

That’s true, I should have thought about Canada and other allies of the West (Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, maybe others).

I guess the US was the lynchpin that held “the West” together. Without good leadership from them, then I guess the world is as Mark Carney described: the US doing its own thing, and then a bunch of “middle powers”, who should act together, if they want better outcomes when dealing with the big powers.

Trump instigated the situation to justify doing this. Period.

It was always going to end this way because Putin ordered it, and he has enough video on Trump and his billionaire pals to get what he wants.

If only Epstein had lived long enough to see what power he still wields in this world— wars, fascism, racism, genocide—can all be laid at his feet because rich people like to rape enslaved women & children and therefore the tapes exist. What a proud moment for Epstein.

Very true, and much more than any of us even know yet. But his real estate days are not over: he is still “doing deals” involving his properties from the Oval Office.

And lest anyone ever forget, the basic facts of Gaza are these:

        Trump: developer
Gaza: land now almost fully cleared for development

Interesting how that has been working out for him.

Maybe Putin doesn’t need video of Trump. Maybe Trump’s admiration of dictators like Putin is all Putin needs to get Trump to do the Kremlin’s bidding.

It’s both. I am sure that the ex-KGB man Putin has more dirt on Trump than you could fit into all of Mar-a-Lago’s bathrooms. And Trump wished he were smart enough to really be a dictator (just as he always tried to be accepted in NY and failing miserably), making him all buddy-buddy with his (smarter, actually “competent”) autocrats and dictators (who laugh behind his back and use him just like the tool he is).

Yeh, there seems to be an effort to dismantle both the EU, US, and any western agreements like five eyes. There have been other times when men gathered in a room and carved up the world… I wasn’t thinking it be in my lifetime when this is attempted again.

I would have NO objections at all regarding dismantling of the Five Eyes - this surveillance shit can get fucked.

I have mild objections regarding dismantling of NATO - as a defensive pact it fulfills an important role, but it might be superceded by something not dependent on the increasingly unstable US and that would be fine.

I have massive objections regarding dismantling of the EU - this is the largest economic and peace project Europe has ever seen, and has brought prosperity all over the continent. I have my gripes with its structure - the EU Parliament needs more tools, and the Commission needs less (the commission is an completely undemocratic blob in the middle of an otherwise pretty democratic structure, as seen with the commissions regular push for spying on citizens), and also we have to change the rules which need 100% of countries to agree in general, because it causes everything to be soooo slow (and easily disrupted by outside forces), but in general the EU is a pretty successful project.

The good thing is - all european states KNOW that the EU is needed nowadays. We can’t realistically go back into a time where a small land mass as we are is splintered into scores of small pieces.

The problem with the EU is that it proves democracy, and giving power to working class people, can work. Which is a huge threat to Putin and the CCP.

Yeah, it is the reason why we are under attack from all sides. You can add the US to that list nowadays btw - the pressure to let their tech giants work without rules or supervision is huge.

I think that gives Trump too much credit. Trump is at his core really stupid and really insecure. Putin gets to run his country like Trump wants to run ours. Trump looks up to Putin like a little kid looks up to his big brother. Everything he does is to gain the attention and approval of big brother.

I don’t think Trump would care. I really don’t. He likes to brag about being able to shoot someone in the middle of Times Square, and I think he’s a 100% right. His base would have no problem with a video of him molesting a child. Most of his base would happily give their children to him.

No whatever dirt Putin has on him, if he has any or needs it, has to be something that Trump himself finds embarrassing. He’s not embarrassed about raping children he brags about that, it’s got to be something that he would find emasculating. Again assuming he has anything on Trump because Trump such a scumbag he could be doing this just because.

Is it a “tankie” position to demand the democratic right of self determination?

Ukrainians are neofeudal corporate serfs under a fascist junta owned by Blackrock. All opposition parties are banned. All opposition media has been seized by the state. Men can’t even leave to escape this Banderite death cult.

I think you meant “Russians”. Russians are neofeudal corporate serfs under a fascist junta owned by Putin. Which is why they’re invading other countries and stealing their land and children and bringing them under authoritarian rule. Because nazis do what nazis do.
