Nice, that is great to hear. I had to lie to the nurse to get scheduled for a mammogram at 42 years old and it ended up being cancer, so definitely YMMV

The recommended age to start getting a mammogram is 40 and you are unlikely to have to fight to get an appointment for one. I even had it automatically pop up in health portals as something I needed to schedule after my I turned 40.

you are unlikely to have to right to get an appointment for one.

Again, this is not a universal experience.

Its strange that you just replied saying “you are unlikely to blah blah” to a comment where I said I had to LIE in order to get it scheduled because they were not going to let me have one until I was 50. They were going to let me go on my way for the next 8 years with just a normal breast exam that found nothing. Then they found cancer which was only at stage 1 because I pushed to have my cancer screening done at 42 and not 50.

So nice for you that you don’t have to fight for your healthcare, but some do and its a PITA.

I’m sorry for your experience, but it is not the norm and it is good for other people to know that so that they don’t use your anecdote as a reason to avoid getting a procedure.
