Spirit Airlines has announced it is going out of business after 34 years. The ultra-low-cost airline known for its bright yellow planes and deep discount fares said Saturday it has started winding down operations.
Did anyone see that guy who snapped his skateboard in half so it would fit in the carry-on, so he could avoid paying the 89 dollar charge? It got viral enough to gain Tony Hawk’s attention
Serious question: What was the entirety of his logic, destroying his skateboard? He may as well have thrown it in the trash & not bring it onto the plane at all, because it’s useless after breaking it in half.
He would have wanted to keep the trucks/wheels/bearings/etc (if you keep that stuff a new board alone would be cheaper than the fee) and it’s a lot quicker to snap the board than sit there taking it apart.
I have no idea about skateboard prices, like at all. But maybe a new board is cheaper than their fee was. You can repurpoe the wheels after all, which I imagine to be the expensive bits.
