President Donald Trump on Sunday said the U.S. Navy would “immediately” begin a blockade of ships entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz, after U.S.-Iran ceasefire talks in Pakistan ended without an agreement or next diplomatic steps in sight.
In his first public comments after the 21-hour talks, Trump sought to eliminate Iran’s key source of leverage in the war by exerting strategic control over the waterway that was responsible for 20% of global oil shipping before fighting began.
A U.S. blockade could further rattle global energy markets. Trump told Fox News the goal was to ensure all ships could transit: “It’s going to be all or none, and that’s the way it is.”

I hate that this doddering, brain-damaged old pedophile is setting something in motion that’s going to be creating negative consequences for the entire world long after he’s cold and dead.
Awful.
I’m usually not an optimist, but I kinda see the positive side: It shows that dependence on fossil fuels for energy is a huge security risk for the whole world, as single actors can cause huge price hikes to EVERYTHING, not just the fuel itself. Now even the dumbest get that we must invest in diversifying the energy sector, ergo invest in green energy.
Humanity really sucks. It should never take a war for people to start realizing that the old ways don’t work forever, but here we are and to me it seems like this has always been the case.
Plus, finally there is a major price hike that can’t be blamed on the green parties.
An incredibly tiny ruling group of sociopaths suck. Humanity as a whole could be very positive, if it stopped letting itself be led around by the nose.
People voted for Trump and far right parties all over the world. They also voted against doing anything about climate change. People suck.
The best part I think is, the US oil and gas industry got everything they wanted out of Trump and more, but doing all that is actively screwing them in the long run. Their talking points like LNG being a bridge fuel and securing energy prices by having oil production are combusting in real time.
“I kinda see the positive side to famine and millions dying because that means more solar and wind power”
“I kinda see the positive side to humanity maybe finally getting their shit together to avoid dying out completely”
