    I think they made the situation worse. The original protests was over an extradition bill, which they eventually agreed to drop. But then the demands kept getting higher and higher to the point it became separatism. I think they shot themselves in their own foot if they seriously thought China would allow separatism to happen

        Nevermind that they’re committing the same homogenizing colonization of thousand+ year-old cultures that tankies criticize the west for.

        Yes, we know, the US sucks. So does the PRC.

          Yeah it’s always funny to take their criticisms of the West (I believe most of them must be US 20 and 30-somethings) and are completely oblivious of them in their ‘uncritically supported actually existing socialist countries’.

          Sure being gay is outlawed, but that’s because it’s too soon and the country needs to stay united

          Sure all the minorities are being re-educated to create a nationalist monoculture empire, but that’s really the only single way you can beat the, erh… evil nationalist empire.

        It was going to happen eventually regardless. HKSAR has an expiry date
