In 2024, more than 20 million Canadians visited the US, according to the U.S. Travel Association — more than any other nationality.

But final figures posted on Friday by the US National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO), show a 21% drop in Canadian arrivals last year compared with 2024 — representing about 4.2 million fewer Canadian visitors.

There’s a lot of stuff I want to do in the U.S. There’s a lot of people who are kind and welcoming, and I’d love to meet them and have cool experiences. There’s a lot of small/midtier bands I’d love to see live, who never ever cross the border. I’d love to go to Burning Man proper and see what that’s like. I want to get wasted on Bourbon Street. I want to hang out in Palm Springs, and reap the benefits of being one of the few straight single guys doing so. I want to go to a tiki bar in a country where they take that shit real seriously.

I’m still. not. fucking. going. Even a layover is undesirable.

Some people just don’t care. The gas prices will probably decrease travel more than Canadian’s principles.

For me it’s not even about principles, it’s about safety. How are these people so stupid as to go there with ICE detaining random tourists for the hell of it

I bet it’s not surprising that the hubs for the world’s two worst airlines are in conservative Canadian provinces.

Agree, I am not planting my feet at that shit whole when they fucking threaten us with war, and I cannot fathom why anyone would…

a significant number of Canadians would vote for Donald Trump if they could. We almost voted in Poilievre, but across Canada we have Moe, Smith, Ford, all MAGA politicians who refer to themselves as Republicans, which is all the PC party of Canada is.

I wonder if part of it is people who had plans made already didn’t change them. Next year will give us a better idea. I do know some people who traveled to the US to visit friends, and I get it, but even they are saying they’re done and their friends can come here instead.

not really, two weeks ovcer 65 is $100-120.

But travel health insurance has a lot of fine print. If you really need healthcare in the US, insurance may only slightly help.
