If EU had a federal police, Orban would be arrested.
I seriously hope the Hungarian votes Orban out in the upcoming election, and when that is done, that Orban will face criminal charges.
They would be shot to death by Hungary’s military. Or any other member state’s where applicable.
The EU is not a (federal) state and there is no popular support for becoming one.
Orban might be a piece of shit but that does not justify making the EU a state and forcibly taking sovereignty away from members.
EU is built on naive idealism. The charter does not have provisions for how to kick someone out. Hungary would have to do a Brexit on their own, which of course they won’t.
You can suspend their rights. That would actually be the perfect solution. They stay in the common market so EU’s economy would not be impacted in any way. You just don’t let them vote. Sanctioning the shit out of them would be even easier. Suspending rights has to be unanimous but I’m not sure who would object it. Slovakia maybe? It’s hard to believe EU would not be able to push this through if they really wanted. Anyway, can’t or don’t want to is equally pathetic here.
I hope the population vote him out, and turn more pro EU.
If they reelect Orban though, then I completely agree with you. There’s a limit to how many chances they should have.
I’m waiting for everyone to understand we’re in a global information war, and nowhere can really have free and fair elections with the current state of information.
From looking at how it takes away self determination in USA, I hope we never get federal police in EU.
But the lack of ability to handle a rogue state like Hungary is a problem.
We have federal police here in Australia. They don’t have to be bad. It can be useful when criminals travel across borders - all states have their own police force and jurisdiction ends at the border. Mostly our criminals are dealt with by state police but sometimes the AFP get involved where necessary.

I seriously hope EU leaders grow a fucking spine and kick those assholes out.

It’s mostly just Orban and his buddies though.
And the majority of population that voted for them multiple times.
Yeah, never mind the election rigging.
I hope the population vote him out, and turn more pro EU.

misinformation is too strong. Hopefully they won’t get a supermajority again at least…

Sadly EU leaders think they still have 15 chances left.
The EU isn’t a federation, not as of 2026.
I do kind of hope that someone lends the funds to cover it, though, and that Orbán loses next month and Hungary subsequently hands it back.
