Why i’m supposed to care less about iranian children being killed in war? Is it because their government is evil? Isn’t our government bad too?

It’s human nature to care about those close to you more than those far from you.
It’s estimated that 30-40 children died on Oct 7th. Consider the reaction most (white) Americans had to that event to the 165 schoolchildren killed in Minab recently. Neither Israel nor Iran are meaningfully “closer” to Americans than the other.
Israelis are painted white by US media, Iranians are painted brown.

Europe is closer to Iran than America
Geographically yes, but I was mostly referring social and ideological distance tend to be even more important that geography, especially in modern times.
Goal post moving doesn’t sound too rigid now does it? Human nature seems to be awfully flexible in the right hands
Saying “people consider them to be closer to those they talk to the most” isn’t moving the goalposts. I’m sorry I didn’t dumb it down enough.
No, you said that now, in modern times, that means ideological closeness, not merely geographical. Somehow, human nature seems to have shifted. If it can shift like so in the transition to modern times, I don’t suppose this appeal yo human nature could also shift in an imagined future. That it is not such an immutable quality - that even you have conceded as such by your own reply.
Absolutely. It doesnt make it factually correct, but personally. Kid in my area is in ICU after getting attacked with a hammer. Thats so much more worrying to me than school shooters in America.
Obviously one is worse than the other, but one happened near me and one is an ocean away.
That would be fair if the USA government or MAGA peeps showed any care for USA children.
