This is just blame shifting, you could have voted for Kamala, you voted for Trump, this is not anyone elses fault, nor is it capitalisms which functions perfectly well in hundreds of countries

I was not the one who passed Citizens United.

I was not the one who set up Fox News and right-wing radio as propaganda outlets.

I was not the one who chose to make the Republicans work with Evangelicals to push wedge issues.

I was not the one who bought up all the media outlets to push Republican propaganda.

But sure, put all the blame on me when I’ve done my part to vote, try and convince others to vote, protested some when I could which hasn’t been all that much. I even have a wikipedia page because of something I did in 2009 to try and help.

But keep on blaming me and not the fascists and not the oligarchs who actually orchestrated this thing if it makes you feel better about yourself.

Are you happy with yourself now for blaming me? Do you feel better?

i don’t understand how you went from understanding “you” to mean america and now you’re typing “you” as in you personally ?

obviously you are not the sole reason trump is elected

it is your country that decided that collectively

To me infantising them as if they accidentally fell for republican garbage like they would totally have voted for kamala if not for some reason is just excuses

most countries have right wing groups, we have skynews here in Australia as a right wing propaganda outlet, and plenty of shadow organisations like advance

we also have a bat shit lady pauline hanson running her party to lead australia

just if she gets in don’t expect me to complain about fox news, the internet, capitalism, oligarchs or something

it would simply be what the people of australia wanted

It could’ve been. But dumbfucks threw a tantrum over Harris.

This is on their heads. Never let it be forgotten.

While Harris would have been an objectively better president than trump, I don’t think voting for her would have voted out capitalism…

don’t forget: the ppl who voted 3rd party.

even if they voted for harris she still would have lost. she did a piss poor job at her campaign. if the primary actually picked her instead of joe dropping she’d likely have done much better.

I kind of doubt that will be true. Don’t you think if our system actually worked trump would have been some how taken from presidency? Or at least something would be happening. Like anything real…

        Then you need 2 things:

        1. People to stand up and run as a politician against people like Trump and commit to putting him in jail

        2. Have people vote for said person

As opposed to in Iran where you only have 1 option

        1. Like it or die

There is nothing stopping America from being similar to NZ/Canada/France/Sweden or insert whatever idealist state you look up to with universal healthcare, gun control etc, you just need people to vote for it

Left Wing Americans are constantly saying that capitalism is the problem because they seem unable or unwilling to talk to their neighbours

The problem isn’t the system. The system exists only to help the people maintain the upper hand. It’s the people themselves. Trump is only a symptom of a problem with the people. In fact, even if he drops dead tomorrow, you’ll find a queue of a couple of dozen even worse psychopaths waiting to take his place.

It’s hard to see the problem when you’re part of the US society. But it’s evident from the outside. An average of more than one school shooting happens in the US per day. This isn’t even a news these days. But it’s unheard of and unbelievable in other nations. If anything similar happens, it would be news and discussion for a year. You don’t go to churches or malls or railway stations (there is such a thing) worrying if you’ll die of gunshots.

Political assassinations are a big deal elsewhere - even of a political opponent. You should have seen the US republicans celebrating the murder of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. So the left must be good, right? Of course, they were celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The sudden disappearance of a human life is something most people can’t stomach. Yet, people were celebrating the gory videos!

Similar attitude with armies. There are no just wars. Wars always cause unjust and unimaginable suffering. Wars must be avoided. Of course that’s not an option sometimes. Then your aim must be to attain the objective as fast as possible and restore peace. But all wars are holy wars for Americans. They don’t even tolerate it when I suggest that even their military may be committing war crimes (that’s charitable, considering what’s reported). To them, their military is the righteous force that can do no evil!

This is part of a pattern of excess pride, often called the ‘American exceptionalism’. Americans also give little value to perspectives of people in other countries. Many behave as if the US is the entire world! Problems like the Trump-Epstein regime will continue to repeat until Americans start to introspect and self-criticize. It will happen until a big section of Americans open up their mind to the perspectives of others.
