I don’t read r/conservative much but what I’ve seen is they keep banning actual conservatives because they correctly call out what Trump is doing on things where it’s not about left and right but right and wrong.

Some people are saying that it could be coincidental. OP asks why would the two accounts who post so regularly just happen to both stop at the same time on that day.

I tried improving it by updating the title and description. Even looking at the corrected image we still see disruptions in posting on that day and OP asked a question: why did they both happen to stop on that day despite having such regular posting habits?

why did they both happen to stop on that day despite having such regular posting habits?

One of the reddit comments has proposed a pretty simple explanation: the two profiles are the same person. Just one person’s posting habits were disrupted.

They were the Best Man at their cousin’s wedding in Cleveland? Use your imagination. There are infinite possibilities.

You can be honest and say you have an agenda posting this because of your political opinions, but it is disinformation. Without any link to Russia other than a localized blackout in a minor city in the Moscow region (not part of Moscow, as your post implies, but Moscow Oblast), you could equally make the guess that the posters/bots were on holidays because of Halloween/Día de Muertos and didn’t make posts because of expected low engagement.

The fact that you’re trying to push a link between the two a-priori unrelated events, even if you frame it under “I’m just asking questions”, has a deliberate attempt, and my worry is not exclusively with you as a single individual doing this, but the 500 conspiracy-brained upvotes taking this shit and nothingburger to the frontpage.

        to explain my downvote

You should state your opinions without making aggressive, worst-faith assumptions of others. That kind of rhetoric got this republic to this point in the first place.

Off topic, but I want to say that I appreciate you explaining your downvote. Some of the downvotes on here seem entirely senseless and definitely make one wonder, “Why would anyone downvote that?” When people explain their reasoning, not only are they contributing to Lemmy in a more constructive way, but it helps other commenters gain perspective. Thank you for adding your thoughts.

That kind of rhetoric got this republic to this point in the first place.

curious what rhetoric you mean? they just pointed out that this looks like a conspiracy theory with tenuous evidence.

the oop is attributing posting patterns changing on a US subreddit to a power outage in the middle of the night in some random city with 100k people in Russia, when it was also a holiday (Halloween) in the entire US.

i don’t think that it is aggressive to point out that this is a silly correlation that is actually disinformation when framed this way - lots of people are going to just read the title, upvote, and move on with all their predisposed biases feeling confirmed

no, my argument is that this is comically tenuous evidence.

its like saying that there was a power outage in New York City because Poughkeepsie has a power outage. then concluding that it is evidence of a US troll farm because it coincided with a dip in traffic on reddit during a major holiday.

The other guy was disputing the objectively unlikely connection between the two posters and Russia. In your mind you somehow converted that into claiming that the poster defended Russia as such. You’ve stopped looking at the actual evidence and are just going off the vibes, Russia is already bad therefore every bad thing ascribed to it has to be true.

When the weakness of the connection was pointed out to the reddit OP, even he kind of stepped back. Maybe go accuse him of going soft on Russia as well? Or take a step back yourself.

Russia is simultaneously a shitty gas station about to collapse and just a few sanctions away, and an all-powerful entity dominating US and EU politics. Everyone who contradicts this is paid for by the state.

Russia is a shitty gas station about to collapse, that just happens to have inherited nukes from the evil empire that collapsed before them. This is literally the ONLY reason that anyone pays attention to them. Just like North Korea, Boris-the-Orc.

My agenda is socialism, as you can see directly on my username. I’m not hiding anything. Blaming the far right autoctonous to Europe and the USA on foreigners is not realistic analysis, and so won’t reach realistic results. “Let’s close Russian disinformation” good, let’s also close western disinformation, which is vastly more prevalent and, you know, LEGAL.
