    What are TSMC’s client’s going to do, go to Samsung? That being said $280 just for smartphone SoC fabrication/packaging a is a lot.

      To be honest, why do we need to have the latest and greatest in our smartphones. I am running a 4 year old phone with a mid-range processor and my complaint is not with the CPU/GPU prowess but with the decaying battery that I cannot swap.

      Other than that, monopoly is bad for consumers, as there are not really other companies that can counter TSMC at the moment.
