The Apple A19, the A19 Pro, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 rely on TSMC's cutting-edge N3P process node. According to a new report out of China, TSMC has increased the price of N3P by around 20% vs the previous gen. This price increase seems to have affected Qualcomm and MediaTek the worst.
To be honest, why do we need to have the latest and greatest in our smartphones. I am running a 4 year old phone with a mid-range processor and my complaint is not with the CPU/GPU prowess but with the decaying battery that I cannot swap.
Other than that, monopoly is bad for consumers, as there are not really other companies that can counter TSMC at the moment.
