The physical connector is, confusingly but expectedly, the same.

    I think it’s about time HDMI just starts over. They really messed up 2.1 with the whole ‘you don’t need all the features to be compliant’ and every cable that doesn’t have the bandwidth for VRR, HDR, eARC and 4K@120.

    Maybe they need to take a page from the book of USB and don’t change the connector per se, but give it a fun little colour coding.

      The connector is the same though (I believe all throughout the recent HDMI releases in the last ~15 years, if not earlier), it’s feature support/cable compatibility that’s the problem.

        Yeah I know so if they were to colour-code the cables the whole process would be more transparent.
