Honest ignorant question: What would happen if you ban the products and not the act?
You never get charged for smoking, but you can have the cigarettes seized. No imports and no factories.

But wait is that a flat $5 fee for any amount? That can quickly outcompete 1%…

This is high risk though. The company could underperform or be unexpectedly overcome by competition. Also when should one exit the position to reap that bargain?
This should also be applied to all publicly traded companies that one uses and enjoys, but is that appropriate? I guess that’s basically just a prompt for people to invest in the market broadly, as they should be anyway.
I’m going to think on this more.

I’m a convert. After seeing LLMs do it, and now that all platforms have easy interfaces to access them, I use them in my note taking to help memory mapping and chunking.

I put my database within the path that’s mounted to my nextcloud container. KeePassium on iOS lets you connect to WebDAV which is one way to have Nextcloud host it. It’s good about letting you access the database offline if you lost connectivity.
3:2:1 backup can still happen via whatever method you use for all the rest of your files. So far this is working fine (albeit a bit slow at times) on an RPI. Remote access via Wireguard VPN.
Are you going to be running Linux?
I’ve also got a tower with a GTX 1060 and I’d like to have it sleeping, but ready to be woken by the Pi when needed. But it never wakes up from a sleep state, so I’m curious if you’ve had any luck with that and we can trade notes.
I’m interested in knowing this too

THIS SUMMER
Awesome! You’re making me want to give Portainer another go.
I’m running a potato pi with 0.5 TB and 8 GB RAM so…slightly different situation here :P
Do you place any restrictions on the containers or the container daemon as a whole?
Moreso asking so I can copy your settings. But I have had my server brought down just from the services themselves consuming too much memory or disk space, so something to look into if you haven’t already.

This is so great to hear. I’m already using Nextcloud with several of its apps including Talk (what’s with the spreed nomenclature anyway?)
I thought using Talk for this effort was just quick and dirty until I figure out Matrix, but you’ve helped reassure me it’s legit.

Thanks so much!

I’m in the process of getting this going in my lab. I appreciate these efforts to find alternatives.
That being said, can I get some opinions so I can pare down the list?
Would be great to have E2EE and audio. Video bonus. I don’t think I’ve got much in the way of preferences beyond that.
My latest leaning is hosting the Matrix protocol.
Also the only friends I have that would be willing to move off the easy corporate software are tech literate, so I have the option to distribute VPN confs and the like. Has anyone hosted chat over their own VPN, or does that just become a mess because STUN/TURN needs to be “free”?
(Sorry I’m still learning a lot here)

No mobile app…at least not iOS. Did you find one for Android?
I just place a bookmark to the web interface on my home screen to trick me into the “app feel”.

I don’t think you should switch away from Immich, this was just an “embedded in Nextcloud” suggestion. Sometimes nice to quickly glance at my photo library from the mobile app, esp if confirming uploads went through.
I’ve never experienced that bug, glad you were backed up. Also got HEIC working, I think it involved adding a line to the PreviewGenerator php conf.

Memories has come a long way.
I don’t think it has the specific features you requested, sorry. But I like it as something that’s baked into my Nextcloud container (esp. as I haven’t had the time to set up Immich yet).

So great, signed your guestbook!
Random question, why is index.html just a pointer to home.html?

Thanks!

This has been available in my Steam compatibility choices for a while. Is it the -4 that’s new? I swear it was already 10-4 but I’ll check again.
Yeah that’s a good point.
