Ya, and with Proton working so well, I’d rather focus on Windows, then at most work with Valve on making sure the game runs well with Proton. Way less work.

I am, I use Finamp as the client. It works fine, I wouldn’t say its better than say Plexamp, but it works well enough as a daily driver.

When I was on windows I also had to recompile shaders after a driver update. I also experience this, and have just assumed it was from a driver update.

My issue with sleep has always been resume. I have a lenovo legion and it will go to sleep, waking it back up is another story, half the time the display never comes can and I have to hard reboot

I have a torrent client in a docker container thats hooked up to it. Makes it so its not possible for your real IP to leak. If the VPN disconnects the torrent container loses internet.

I mean all I can say is I have had this watch for about 3 months and retrieving the key still worked on a non rooted phone as of then. Not sure if its changed since then.

Each user has a subdirectory, I dont see a reason you couldn’t symlink them so they actually reside on different drives.

I just simply dont monitor most things. I do have a few things such as low disk space and failed backups. They are just simple shell scripts that send me an ntfy message when there is a problem.

My experience is the same as yours, but I think the people complaining are the ones who are federated and are in large communities. Matrix apparently doesnt handle large rooms very well.

Anecdote but ive been hosting Plex for family members for 10+ years. I tried the Jellyfin switch. Compared to Plex the Jellyfin apps are pretty bad, and I had a ton of performance problems with the remote streaming as well. Its just not ready for that use case. Family members begged me to go back to Plex.

My family at home and myself, we are using Jellyfin currently. It works OK for home use but there are days I want to go back to Plex. Its just a more polished experience.

You certain? You should have it. I have a very similar setup to you. Nvidia 3070, PopOs on a laptop with Gnome. Its kinda hidden in the app. There is an advanced button that hides the option.

The lesson I think is only buy devices with local apis and avoid google services entirely. I have tons of smart devices in my house now but I require local control and they all sit on an isolated VLAN with no internet. The nest is the last remaining device that I haven’t switched over yet. Its 8 years old, I didn’t think about any of those things 8 years ago. Live and learn I guess.
