Oh damn I thought it just hit me on desktop where I only use reddit still. Are they that desperate to save their stock price as to force people to log in? I can’t create a new account as they get banned but my wife absolutely 100% reads reddit and will not use an account. That’s some anti-consumer shit if I’ve ever seen it.

Wow I just hit this too. Admittedly I still hop on reddit since Lemmy can “run out” of content from time to time (or maybe I’m new with few communities idk).

Anyways, after they banned my 14 year account, then immediately some old alt accounts, took away old reddit without an account, and now THIS? I mean this is over the top. They’re saying NO ONE anywhere can read reddit on desktop (coming soon to mobile!) without an account?

They must be desperate to up DAU. I don’t think I’ve ever created an account just to piss away time on a website.
