I never heard of pirating NES/SNES/Genesis back then, so I don’t think it was very common. Renting was pretty cheap, and you could always trade or borrow games with friends. We didn’t get a computer until the late 90s when the WWW was taking off, but yeah, pirating games is probably one of the first things I did. Downloading a large number of RAR files from warez sites over dial-up, taking multiple days, IIRC. And ROMs and emulation. Someone in my school would put cracked PC games on a shared network drive, so you could play them in the library. Later, I went to a technology focused high school, and we’d all play (cracked) Half-Life or Unreal Tournament multiplayer before class started every day (usually with the teacher).

You really only need a little more RAM than your GPU’s VRAM (unless you’re doing CPU offloading, which is extremely slow). Otherwise, I did the same thing recently too, and was surprised I was able to get it a Qwen 9B to fix a bug in a script I had. I think Sonnet would’ve fixed in a lot fewer tries, but the 9B model was eventually able to fix it. I could’ve fixed it myself quicker and cleaner than both, but it was an interesting test.

They already have been. I know that at least one water desalination plant was hit. Civilian fuel infrastructure has been hit. The US openly stated they’re going to try to cripple their industrial capacity. Seems the US has adopted Israel’s Dahiya doctrine which targets civilian infrastructure. I used to. My current router seems to handle QoS gracefully, so I haven’t found a need to. For the last year or so, I’ve been seeding everything until it gets > 2 ratio and there are > 10 seeders, otherwise I just keep seeding. I just looked, and I have one torrent with > 200 ratio, lol.

I doubt the US would try to occupy or “nation build.” I assume they’d just bomb a bunch of people and do some small operations with special forces. The goal is to probably set their nuclear program back significantly, and try to do the same thing they did in Venezuela (cut the head off of government, replace with someone they can control, and literally steal their oil for the oligarchs).
I think I’d install proxmox on all machines because there is a proxmox provider for Terraform. Then, manually create the VMs, and to learn the barebones, use kubeadm to set everything up, and kubectl to manage it. Once comfortable and knowledgeable with that, start messing around with Terraform and Ansible.
They are a threat to Europe’s manufacturing/industrial sectors. In the US, China carries out propaganda/destabilization campaigns; not sure if they do much of that in Europe… Looks like China is involved with AfD (several AfD members have been arrested for espionage), so they are probably trying to destabilize Europe too.
