A cranky biologist who means well. My hobbies include long walks off short piers and anything science related.

Almost every major political label is overloaded like that. Liberal, conservative, they can mean so many things they mean almost nothing. They are nearly meaningless.

I made a topical post in the new community! It is time sensitive!
Halp!
What fresh hell is this?
I use this whenever my supervisor tells me she has news for me.

I’m don’t love the chart and hate forced and false dichotomies.
Both ‘conservative’ and ‘liberal’ are over-loaded terms, meaning that they can be used to mean too many things, some definitions almost directly contradict each other.
So I stick with the term ‘assholes’, which has a more universally agreed meaning.
Websites work very well and are scalable af. A plugged in person with a track record like that could go Web 2.0 and probably net more.

In all those subsequent roles, I imagine they are all the same universe and Harry’s life just got really random.

Any line from the script to The Big Lebowski.

Me, too.
Can you imagine the creation myths that would evolve in the society that developed from the survivors? There were just a handful who had survived and experienced that descent into hell. The others had blissfully slept.

Pandorum is, to me, what Passengers was trying for. The claustrophobic horror of hurting through the void, other humans being both your salvation and your tormentors, all that.
The execs ruined it to make a vehicle for some big names.
Which half is gay, top or bottom?
I will organize the poor souls into a vocal group and go on tour as The Assless Chaps, naturally.
Using the term ‘assless chaps’ infuriates me and I will not let that aggression stand, man.
All chaps are assless. Chaps with asses are pants.
Fight me.
Seconded, for the second time!
Paperless is very easy to install and maintain. I use it for both scientific pdfs and random receipts. It’s easy to keep them separate
I make a ham and brie sandwich on a toasted bagel. The just-melting brie holds into the hemp hearts as does the fig jam I out on the other half of the bagel. Yummers.

At that moment, the student was enlightened.

It is so very frustrating when some one elevates their indefensible personal feelings to the level of cosmic law.

Someone read those books thoroughly and decided they are not worth the cost of staying in a damaging situation.
You have not read them and yet you to want to defend stories you don’t think are true, but might have some little pearls of conventional wisdom? And just gloss right over that the religious trauma caused them serious harm they are still recovering from?
Just pointing out that your luke warm defense of your favorite children’s stories in this context comes across as extremely tone deaf.

Oh that is a good video and a good channel overall, thank you.
Yeah I don’t think I need to be an infectious disease expert to see the writing on the wall. We learned from the COVID Experience that a lot of the pain of a pandemic is the social chaos and confusion that make solving the resource choke-points even harder, creating a runaway feedback loop of problems.
This time around we are less prepared, less informed and the woo-woo crowd has had their feelings validated lately so they are feeling extra empowered.
Stocking up on simple essentials in a calm and measured manner is surely not a bad idea. Just some extra toilet paper, hygiene supplies.
And of course, beans.
I am actually trying to read a water damaged copy of the book, lent to me by a friend who named her son Atreyu.
The internet and grad school have combined in an attempt to destroy my ability to read a paper book.
Maybe a story that never ends is too big a challenge in my quest to regain that ability?
Nah, I love dark shit and I can’t wait to get to the part where he meets the nihilistic tortise with allergies. I am really curious to see what the film makers were working with from the book.
