Also you’re putting words in my mouth. I never said these men were “misunderstood”. I explained how they got there in the first place. Their beliefs and actions are clear as day. I do not sympathize with them more than abused women. But you don’t want to engage my actual points, you want to set up a straw man and pull your self-righteous, self-pitying manipulative bullshit instead, which is exactly what I knew would happen.

If you dine with a Nazi, you are a Nazi. If you befriend a Nazi, you are a Nazi. If you fuck a Nazi, you are a Nazi.

It’s not just about how you’re treated by these communities, it’s how they work mechanically.

For example, on reddit if you engage with these people, you will not only be deleted and banned from their sub, you will also be auto-banned by a bunch of opposing subs. You get one chance to participate before you need to circumvent the platform by creating a new account.

It’s simply not feasible to engage with them online in this way, and that’s ignoring the time and emotional energy you need to spend to do it in the first place.

The issue needs to addressed at a societal level. As a society we value all the wrong things in men and few of the right things. A lot of these guys end up in these communities specifically because they feel they can’t meet the ludicrous standards created for them, and place the blame solely on women instead of our wider culture.

I’ve called these assholes out on reddit to in the past. My reward was not only getting banned from their sub, but also getting auto-banned from a bunch of unrelated mainstream and progressive subs.

The idea that we can just go in and win an argument with these clowns is incredibly naive. I get the sense that the author didn’t actually try to do this herself. Social media is specifically built to push people into impenetrable bubbles because the algorithms intentionally favor combative tribalism, which drives up engagement.

But social media is only part of the problem. We have bigger issues related to how we think about men, and how we raise boys, that drive them into this mentality in the first place. Toxic masculinity is not new, it’s just been spread rapidly by technology.

I played hockey in high school and that was my experience too. Insanely toxic attitudes towards women. Yet we elevate these assholes because at least in the US we still value athletics in men more than anything else.

We should weaponize bots to do this. With AI it doesn’t even need to be real people anymore.

They’re using them against us and it’s long past time we responded in kind.

I actually agree with you. There used to be real consequences for bad behavior and being lazy, and now you get told that it’s not really your fault. Zero concept of personal responsibility. Now society is an epidemic of mass narcissism and selfishness. It clearly isn’t sustainable. There are going to be severe consequences for our quality of life in the future, and that’s assuming society even survives this epidemic at all.

More like modern kids aren’t equipped to deal with reality.

Anyone who’s been arrested here knows what a bunch of bullshit that is. The psychopath American people created a legal system that’s as harsh and dehumanizing as they could possibly make it under the constitution, and now it’s going to get worse.

The cop car seats are made out of hard plastic, and there are no seat belts. They literally want you to fucking die on the way to jail. It happens in a regular basis, and no one cares because this country is full of vengeful sociopaths. They don’t care if you’re innocent or guilty. They don’t care what you were charged with (for me it was smoking weed). And that’s just the beginning.

The American people have made it plainly obvious for decades that the constitution is just a piece of paper that gets in the way of their bloodlust and cruelty.

Anyone who’s surprised by America veering into fascism has only known this country from a coddled point of view. The current dictatorship is a wet dream for a lot of Americans, and they aren’t going to change their minds until he destroys the country, and even then they’ll probably celebrate it.

My point still stands. How many other people have been kidnapped who we haven’t heard about? She’s an actor so she has more media access than most people.

Trump’s mission is to weaken the US, NATO, and the EU. Eliminating VoA helps do that. Notice how he isn’t threatening China with invasion, but Canada and Denmark instead.

It was the generation after the Nazis that did all the work to redeem Germany. The Nazis themselves never admitted that what they did was wrong, even when it destroyed their own country.

And of course they felt free. To the mediocre, the hateful, and the weak-minded, “freedom” means power over others, and the Nazis gave their supporters a tiny bit of that power.

The BLM protests were the largest in US history. The fact is that most Americans have been coddled by a stable democracy and don’t care if they lose it, as long as someone puts a buck in their pocket. They think it won’t affect them because Congress bad, both sides bad.

Of the ones who do care, they think protests dOn’T wOrK because BLM or the Palestine protests failed. Completely ignoring the fact that other civil resistance movements have succeeded and are historically more successful than armed revolts against the upper class.

The US is sabotaging its own alliances. They’re hardly untouchable.
