Look at the timescales. Past = ~40 years, Today is like 1 year, 2 years? There is just more choice in the past. And have you really tried all new games?

Currently existing AI has no goals. It has no self-preservance drive. Why would it? It was made to serve humans, not to become a virus.
Which goals?
When movies depict “AI”, “robots”, “aliens”, or even talking animals, they always depict weird humans instead because authors are stupid.
Real AI isn’t human. Its an intelligent machine - yet not sentient. It does not have goals or feelings, it isn’t alive, but it is knowledgeable and intelligent.
Western AI will collapse and then their “journalists” will scream “AI is bad because china” or “china is bad because AI”, depending on target audience.
