i run some games in ultrawide window (if they don’t offer fov control), so i get the ultrawide too. but i do still prefer 16:9 so the game fills my whole field of vision
not because i went for a 4k tv, but normally yeah
don’t be mad at me, i went back. found out I really like the vertical space.
tested innertune just now, and it worked. i noticed there are two of them in f-droid, try the other one? or maybe you were being blocked because of vpn? with mullvad only a few countries work with youtube. try rimusic, it uses youtube music too.
linux mint and 3060ti rolling smoothly
i used utorrent until a few years ago when i started caring enough to switch. old habit, like over 15 years ago when my mom taught me how to pirate, utorrent was good back then. don’t know why i kept using it for that long, i even had to block ads in it by editing the hosts file…
fighting is a good way to describe it. i see why people like it, i just don’t know how they can stand it. i would love it if it was as stable as the others. btw kubuntu lts uses a very old plasma version, it’s probably going to be better if they ever finish updating it to 6.
cinnamon is like the perfect middle ground. it’s not as painful to use as gnome, not as buggy as kde, but it still has a ton of customization.
just an idea I have. to keep my pc from sleeping while streaming content to my other devices, I have a script that uses xdotool to move the cursor 1 pixel to the right and immediately back every 30 seconds if my network adapter has transferred some data. make (or ask chatgpt to make) a script that recognizes some of your controller inputs and then moves the mouse, or it could press XF86_wakeup key (this will cause problems in web excel). also it could trigger by just having the controller plugged in.
etcher sucks ass. I read about it even breaking usb sticks, I’ve had it fail the flashing too multiple times. in mint I use the preinstalled usb flashing tool, in other distros popsicle and in windows rufus.
minimum gpu requirement there is gtx 660, which is still like 5 times more powerful than yours. you can’t really run anything more demanding than solitaire.
kde plasma is a desktop environment, but looks like you are using gnome
just tried on my mint, it works.
i remember reading how some movies/shows came with a malicious lnk file that windows then picks up and gets infected
newcomers may bounce back and forth a few times before settling, I did too. I think one problem is that ubuntu is widely recommended and many people go for it, but it’s not pleasant to use…then they go back to wintoes. the almost fullscreen app menu is too win8. two taskbars. not a lot of customization. last I tried it I couldn’t get apps to launch or show up anywhere after installing.
that’s disappointing, but i don’t know how reliable that data is. how many websites are they collecting data from, what’s the “unknown” os, and some browsers (librewolf for example) report as being windows to blend in.
7800x3d owner here and just wanted to add a little warning, avoid gigabyte motherboards. they don’t play well with linux… and from what I’ve been reading, they don’t really work well with windows either. mainly bios problems, suspend/wake issues…
surprisingly many games have linux versions but they never work. DL only displays empty black and green boxes… works great with proton though.
reset bios and try with 2 rams that are the same
