I had a laptop running as a container machine / image processing for frigate using its iGPU.
Kicked around in my rack without the screen housing, or the bottom housing for a few years. Didn’t have ethernet, so I grabbed a M.2 a+e to Ethernet adaptor which worked a champion.

Until I let it short out on the tray it was resting on, wasn’t expensive and replaced it with a cheap erying ES motherboard.

If you aren’t using the wifi onboard you may be able to remove that M.2 a+e and install a dual sata m.2
Does depend on motherboard but possible.

I’ve had my current dishwasher for at least 15 years. Replaced a few grommets for the top spinning arm and its still chugging away like a champion.
The print on the front has been re written in perminant marker (so we know which blinding blue led corresponds to which mode) but honestly couldn’t ask for much more in an appliance.
From memory it was on special for maybe $200. Wife wants to replace it but I don’t have the heart to let it go just yet.

My services are quite small (static website, forgejo and a couple more services) but see no performance issues.

Running 50 on one machine, four on my fileserver and another on a hacked up hp eliteone (no screen) which runs my 3d printer. Believe my immich container is a nspawn under nixos too.
Some are a wip but the majority are in use. Mostly internal services with a couple internet facing, I’ve got a good backlog of work to do on some with some refactoring my nixos configs for many too 😅.
From my Erying ES system:

Or Grayjay, I found NewPipe / other frontends had their fair share of issues while I was using them. Their desktop app however I’ve not used as it was failing to build on my NixOS machines.

Missed the self hosted install:
https://docs.aliasvault.net/installation/
Might investigate this further as I’ve wanted to move passwords to another solution and leave passkeys / 2fa via KeePass.

I’d dare say the easier method, from memory the p6 should have a charge limit in the stock firmware.
I’ve not an old Samsung s10+ kicking around with corrupted firmware, should really take a look at it and see if it can be up and running again. Not that I need more cores, ram, cameras or any additions to my equipment but just because.
It fassinates me that consumer hardware, and low power at that goes wasted so often. So many small form factor devices such as phones, with built in ups aren’t being leveraged. But I guess that comes down to proprietary binary blobs and developer work on a per device basis.
I might have to investigate what platforms mobile nixos supports and see if it’s cheap enough to dabble with.

I have a Ubiquiti AP along with some Google wifi (pre nest) hubs running OpenWRT all with 2.4 / 5.
And honestly I see no reason to update in the coming years, unless there are some major vulnerabilities around these devices.
I don’t need the fastest wireless speeds or latency, if I need either I’ll sit at my desktop or have a server handle the downloads via Ethernet.

The sync looks to change while charging or when you are pressing buttons fast.

Yer I host Plex for 10+ folks and it’s an easy send. Really wish I could pipe it through CloudFlare but not willing to risk it currently.
I’ll give plexamp a go, man my tastes are all over the shop so it will be an album dump (that I should have done years ago) spinning up some old cds and the external dvd drive 😂

You hosting your plex service for other users outside of your home? I’m finding the ease of access for other users / the wife is the largest driving point for me to continue using plex.
I could configure a VPN and attach my jellyfin server to that network however that’s a large hurdle for some of the general population users I have on my plex currently.
For something on-topic the wife and I agreed that she should move to the student sub as she’s studying and kick me off Spotify entirely. I’ve got until the EOM to get plexamp / something else self hosted. Interested to see what comes from this post as it’s pretty relevant for me right now.
Admittedly I could Bluetooth to my head unit in my car and stream Grayjay music to it, but that’s just leaning on an unfree service.
I run NixOS on all my devices including servers, desktop & laptop.
I’m able to configure a service, container, package whatever really and have it run just the same on another system without worrying about dependencies, reconfiguring or copying dots.
There isn’t a worry about installing / removing something and having that package break my system. Even if I did break my install I can boot from a USB, pull my config down from my local git or a mirror and be back in what is essentially the same system.
The hardest part of a reinstall for me is setting up drives, but that too can be a part of a config.
NixOS is the only distro that stuck with me, I tried Proxmox / Ubuntu / Arch / Manjaro but none of those really clicked for what I wanted / needed from an OS.

I’d be pretty surprised to see lead solder used in these applications, lead free is the defacto standard and has been for a long time. Not in vapes but any consumer electronics device.
More than likely it’s the mesh coils used having some lead present.

Nicotine isn’t really harmful, aside from the rediculously addictive nature it’s what a vasoconstrictor?
Much like caffeine it has some decent properties for focus / cognitive abilities.
The main downfall is how it’s consumed by the majority of the population. Durries are overall awful. The stench, accidental burns and all the inhaling burning plant matter leading to cancer thing.

I believe that functionality exists already if you are using Plex; via RSS sync.

Really depends on what you want out of the system, what you can spend and how much time you want to spend on it.
My old z390 itx system has a 16x PCIE to 4x m.2 card - leveraging an m.2 to 5x SATA adaptor with the built in SATA adaptors has given it plenty of space.
Considering I can grab m.2 to 6 SATA adaptors and fill the remainder of the slots that’s a decent chunk of drives from a single PCIE x16 slot.
Software is another kettle of fish and a good way to timesink, I’d rather not give too much of my personal experience as there are so many ways to skin that cat.

Works great and has been for some time on my P7P.
Ensure you’ve allowed background usage and turn off manage app if unused.

KeepassDX is great, works most of the time finding fields in Firefox. Can use biometrics to unlock your database if desired too.
Uses the same databases as I use on my laptop / desktop with no issues.
