Good idea. I checked the “meta” community and it seems like a semi-known issue for about a month, specifically affecting these two communities. At least I’m not going nuts!

Yeah it seems very complicated. I think I’ll stick to my Lemmy account for now, it has all my post history and stuff as well. I might retry Piefed again after a while to see if it works better, my account will be waiting for me. Thanks for the help!

Yeah it’s extremely weird… but I’m getting the feeling that these “instances” are kind of their own servers that are "friends"and subscribed with other servers? So maybe one of them refreshes more often than the other, or some friendships are one-way… That’s just how I’m interpreting it based on all the info you gave me anyway
