  • Have you encountered one of these people in real life?

I have never met anyone who espouses any values like this nor have I see any online presence of someone like this, either.

What I mean is, don’t overvalue the people on this online community you’ve found in a way that impacts your life. There aren’t throngs of people out there trying to castrate or kill you for being polyamorous because they want to replicate toxic relationships in anime and manga.

  • I thought I read they did storm the streets of Caracas, during the last Trump admin, in support of Maduro, during a previous coup attempt.

Like the US got caught sponsoring mercenaries and trying to ship in a load of guns to start a coup. I don’t imagine everything is peachy in Venezuela, but I do wonder how much of that is due to meddling by foreign powers versus corruption.

News in Latin America is hard to trust one way or another, because it always seems like it’s being twisted to support one goal or another. Like, I know the state media is biased, but I also know the Western media is eager to support bloodthirsty actors who want to pillage their resources.

  • My boss has mentioned AI once, and it was when I was asking for guidance on how to take over a twice annual presentation he used to run. He said I could just get the LLM to generate the presentation then edit it as needed.

I did not do that. I just made the damn thing myself because, by him saying that, I realized he had no fucking clue how to do any of this so I didn’t have to either.

Corporate has introduced an LLM we’re supposed to be able to use in lieu of asking an HR representative basic questions, like vacation policy and how to get resources for open enrollment. It… barely works. If you happen to use the magic words, it’ll lead you to a PDF of the policy you’re looking for. I just call or email someone in HR. It’s better to build rapport and awareness between home office and the satellite offices, anyway. Makes things smoother when there’s an actual issue to deal with and people help people they like, even just a little, faster.

  • I’m not exactly sure what they’re getting at, but I did see someone from the Nobel Peace Prize committee call for Maduro’s removal just as the US has been ramping up its “anti-narcotics” operations in around the oil and lithium rich country, complete with extra judicial killings of Venezuelans, telling other nations to avoid their airspace and very recently seizing an oil tanker ship…

So it kinda feels like the Nobel Peace Prize committee is trying to add justification to the cause for war that the US is trying to drum up, which is wantonly egregious, so maybe they’re implying that both the Nobel committee and Eurovision are tacit supporters and backers of imperialism.

Let’s say then, obviously, yes, a lot of the people who people who exclusively date particular ethnicities are doing so for bigoted reasons, demonstrating poor introspection, having their preferences dictated by bigotry and propaganda.

Doesn’t it stand to reason that a similar thing could be occurring with cis people who refuse to date trans people? That many of them are simply bigoted and influenced by propaganda, not having thoroughly examined their thought processes around this concept and instead allowed others to dictate their preferences?

Those many people might benefit from the reframing of that concept to one othering cis people. That is who this post is about.

  • No, actually, I find that’s often not true.

I’ve found that people who are willing to date some ethnicities but not others often exhibit some level of unexamined bigotry, even if they are not abhorrent racists. But I’ve also seen that if they do have romantic experiences with people of that race, this can change, showing that the attraction wasn’t immutable, but rather based on something unexamined in their heads.

I think it’s good and healthy to examine what we find attractive and why.
