My first thought EXACTLY. Lol what a sad, embarrassing state of things.
On the bright side, Lula seems cool.

Sorry, didn’t the Supreme Court JUST rule like TWICE that all his stupid ass tarvfeffes were ILLEGAL?! AGAIN?!
Chickening out or not, couldn’t he threaten and say it and it just…not go through? On account of being ruled ILLEGAL? AGAIN‽
AGHHH!!!

Oh wow! Hella illegal!
So…jail…?..Or…what. What are we doing here.

I think the “American-Israeli cybersecurity firm” bit really sells the plausibility of this while also being dangerously close to “my uncle works at Nintendo.”

I suppose this makes sense for those with slower connections. (I remember 6GB games taking ~6 hours on DSL.)
But I have family members on my household’s modern broadband that can download an obscene amount of data, like, Witcher 3 in 15 minutes or something, that still preorder games.
And not even from small studios who need every fundraising tactic they can to get to the finish line. I’m talking major releases. It befuddles me so.
Especially when there’s been a large number of majorly hyped titles in recent memory that have flopped on release, and end up half price like 6 months later.
I dunno, I have like 500+ games I optimistically hoped to get to at some point, maybe I’m just a patient gamer. I can’t help but be a little jealous of the time someone must have, when they can game so hard that they’re like “I gotta play this new game NOW!!!” 😂
Also you used to get really cool physical “feelies” for preorders like maps, patches, stickers, comics, statues (OMG Assassin’s Creed II)…now it’s like …“Play GTA6 with a Shovel Knight helmet.” LOL

Lol yeah, that’s what I meant, digitally delivered videogames. I remember having to secure my copy of like, Halo 3 or Skyrim in advance so I could play it on release. :D

For some people? Pre-ordering digital games. I mean huh? What are ye even doin there Jimmy-Bob? You afraid they’re gonna run out of copies? O.o
Edit: digitally delivered, like say, Steam or GoG games.

Agreed. Shame is weaponized by the shameless, especially in our “attention as currency” culture, and other consequences are necessary to maintain a polite self-policed society. I think a lot of laws about this kind of thing were written for legal expediency over sociological improvement.
I do believe some places have “mutual combat” and “fighting words” clauses.
Basically, if you’re willingly antagonizing and harassing somehody with insults and/or threats, especially depending on severity, they get some leeway in shutting you up if asking nicely doesn’t help.
Mutual combat is basically the law being looser when “two people agreed to fight each other” which, I dunno, it felt worth mentioning lol.
Unfortunately I think we’re seeing a breakdown of humans keeping each other in check and willingness to act based on a severely litigious society (engaging with the law can quickly ruin your life even if you’re innocent), and adult expectations mimicking the inneffectual “zero tolerance” policies of failed school systems, where any physical contact for any reason is your fault, and you’re supposed to go tattle to government and let them slowly do nothing if somebody is being a problem.
On one hand, you’re right, at least this legal framework somewhat prevents mobs of violent vigilantes enforcing their views on others, but also it cushions and lessens the burden of responsibility from malignant social parasites (like this guy, and the ones in office).
*I assert that this comment is entirely opinion and I’m by no means a lawyer. This should be obvious because Internet. Lol

Their entire cabal should suffer the same way that We The People suffer under their rule.
Incarcerate them as common federal criminals.
Strip them of their material assets and mark them as sex offenders and ex cons. Then release them into our world: Where they have to use “marketplace” insurance that charges an arm and a leg but covers a pinky toe.
They can try to apply for loans with abysmal credit and a shitton of debt that keeps compounding because they can’t pay off that debt.
Regardless of political following, the entire country knows or would find out quickly what terrible workers they would be at any real job, so they would need to apply and get ghosted endlessly to even begin to mount the steps to approach the class ladder they and their ilk constructed.
If they do get that job somehow. They get to enjoy clocking in and out every day, exhausted and abused, knowing the only influence they’ll ever again exert is suggesting the taco value deal over the burger meal, or the brown purse over the black one. That every single day of this isn’t getting them any closer to a brighter future or a way out of the cycle.
They’ll go to their public libraries they fervently cried to defund, and they’ll ask for help, but be kicked out by security after screaming about immigrants and bathrooms.
They’ll be forced to use our crumbling, car-worshipping infrastructure after jumping through tons of hoops to validate their identification and get a driver’s license and maybe even a “Real for really reals tho” ID if they ever want to board a plane. (But with today’s airfare haha that’s unlikely!)
See how far those bootstraps get them.
If a traffic accident, the healthcare system, garbage food, or gun violence doesn’t do them in, they’ll live out and die as they falsely professed themselves to be:
…Actual Americans like you and me.

“Glory to Arstotzka.”
I’m curious about the full context of this image. That’s insane.

You know, I really wish there was some way, AFTER the election, to see a receipt for what your vote was counted as. If enough people started noticing their choice flipped, I think it’d raise some more obvious alarms.
Kinda wishful thinking here but y’know…

This is really interesting. Damn.
I feel he should have been instantly disqualified and imprisoned just for that phone call to Georgia where he’s like (paraphrased) “C’maaahn, guy, just get me some votes. Gimme some votes (or else), guyyy.”
But I know “Things this douche should have been thrown in the hole and forgotten for” is kinda a long dead horse at this point.

Midterms are so difficult to rig that it would be impossible on a nationwide basis.
But I want to reinforce a message here that we’re in crazy-stupid-runaway-clown-state world now, where anything is possible so long as it’s ‘unprecedentedly’ bad for us.
…so we need to make absolutely sure this remains bafflingly impossible so that even a crazy “I can’t believe that’s stupid enough to work” doesn’t somehow pull it off and screw us all over…again.

I like this suggestion. You can block adult content through just switching the router’s DNS to a certain cloudflare address, and I THINK some routers allow blocking a connection from a certain MAC address from X to Y time.
There’s also huge blacklists for PiHole to block that stuff, if you’re open to self-host stuff.
But those lists, by nature of the vast Internet, won’t cover everything, so I think computer use out in the open (like the family area) with set internet-open times would be best.
(A bit more advanced but I’m sure you can, say, permanently whitelist stuff like your distro’s update domains, for example.)
And the best thing: Really just have open conversations about the dangers of this stuff on the Internet, and how things will try to hijack your brain. Kids are smart.
I’m about to be an any-day-now dad, so I’ve been trying to get ahead of this too! :)

The thing I fear is that this just becomes a ridiculously futile war of resource attrition. It all comes down to who has more metals and chips and armaments to keep throwing at the other’s pools of the same until one gives up. What a waste…
…But then again, writing this, I realize that’s almost already how they treat human soldiers so…what will change, I wonder?

“Whaddya mean, ‘you people’?”

That’s metal AF on so many levels. Gotta play this one.
But didn’t Biden shit Trump’s pants before that? :O
