It also mentions (and really is about) reparations which I suspect mightve influenced the abstains even more than the assertion that it was the gravest crime. Easier to weasel yourself out of doing anything/keep reparations low if you can say you never really voted yes on that.

Which studies? A quick search doesn’t seem to confirm that at all. From checking some of those studies, there seems to be a weak/low certainty correlation of lower meat consumption with lower cancer risks, a correlation (with geographical differences) of meat consumption with being overweight, but also other factors like smoking and low physical activity which really call into question whether other studies took that into account, and also a correlation between higher meat consumption and lower risk for depression (which I would also call into question given meat consumption’s correlation with high socioeconomic status).

All I can get from those metastudies is a big nothing burger of “maybe”'s in either direction.

Yep, and even for me while I prefer to download the game directly usually, when I need to bother with manually getting it to work, I much prefer steam and its proton integration. I first looked up porn online around that age and never had that kind of image of sex at any point. They’re that cheap because the chinese government pays for them to be that cheap. It also helps that they exploit their workforce as much as possible, but they still wouldn’t be as cheap as they are without the subsidies.

Small correction: Them sitting on it and growing isn’t quite it doing nothing - for it to grow, the money has to be somewhere in the economy “doing” things. Then the rich person gets money for doing nothing because the company (and by extension its workers) are partially “theirs”.

The benefit of a wealth tax is less freeing up that money, and more so not enabling rich people to spend the money they get for doing nothing on excessive luxuries that only serve to pollute the planet and take up resources that could be used for useful things (and also doing something against excessive wealth accumulation in general, which is imo capitalisms greatest flaw - money leads to more money, and money = power, and we are living in the reality resulting from that)
