Security wise Fairphone isn’t up to GOS standards, so a collaboration wasn’t on the table either way.
If said standards are reasonable is a difficult thing to say. A few years ago I would’ve said that a normal person doesn’t need to be concerned that the police tries to break into their phone, but with the current state of things and the increasing rise of fascism, I’m not so certain anymore.

Once your law covers all eventualities regarding this, its so convoluted that banning is the better option.
Nicotine can stay legal, but smoking anything should still be banned. Not because its a drug, but rather cause its detrimental to the health of anyone around you.
You can fuck up your own life, I don’t care, but smoking hurts a lot more people than just yourself.
And no, only smoking in your own backyard doesn’t work either. Anyone that’s ever lived next to a smoker knows that the smog doesn’t care about your imaginary borders.
You can run Linux just fine on apple SOCs, multiple independent projects managed to run Linux on IPhones before. You do have to rewrite the device tree and all drivers, but that’s the case for all new hardware. People have done it before for the ARM chips in the apple silicons. (up to the M2 series at least)
The only real question is if the bootloader is unlockable or if the neo needs to be jailbroken like its the case with most iphones.
Its definetly not a good choice for Linux and it will take a few years even with the best case scenario, but its possible nonetheless.
Because its arguably worse than smoking cigarettes overall.
The health effects aren’t researched enough for a proper comparison between the two, but at least short term studies, while being inconclusive, show that vaping is just as damaging as smoking. The glycerine based liquid can damage your lungs more than smoking would. And while cigarettes have a lot more different carcinogens, what matters more is the amount.
In addition to that, vapes taste a lot better than cigarettes, which removes the first hurdle that smoking usually has. And this isn’t only relevant when talking about children, its the exact same thing for adults. Most smokers I know startet smoking more when they switched to vapes.
Then there is the whole issue with one time vapes and batteries in landfills
If you want privacy, then the Tor browser wins, after that is mullvad, then a lot of Firefox forks, then firefox itself, then vanadium, then ungoogled chromium and maybe after that is brave.
Its somewhat decent I’m terms of security features in comparison to all the Firefox derivates, bit that’s simply cause its based on chromium.
Its only real feature is the ease of use which makes it a viable alternativ for non tech savy people that aren’t comfortable with the additional settup that the Firefox forks take to be on the same level.
You will still get residue on your walls over time. Doing it once won’t cause harm, but prolonged indoor use is just shitty for everyone.
