Russia has alienated China already by being an unstable and unpredictable mess of a country.
At this point it seems much more likely that the US sides with Russia than China. The EU is their largest trading partner, they’d never risk losing that market.
It’s pretty impressive how consistently he picks the wrong side in every single situation.
I’d bet that Ukraine is banking on Russia not agreeing to the ceasefire. This way they can utilize the US support a little longer while also shopping for alternatives. The US will not be a reliable partner in any case, but it might still be enough to hold on for now.
