I will glance proudly at the TV, knowing my city dodged the biggest economic bullet that we probably ever faced. This was the Olympics that we would have been holding too. While I lament that our current Olympic facilities are decaying, I don’t at the same time think it was responsible to invite this organization (and all the chaos that they bring) back into our city. We can provide the funding for future infrastructure in other and more sustainable ways.

My truck in high school you’d literally open up the door and CDs would be spilling out all over the damn pavement. They talk about distracted driving with the screens in modern day cars, but let’s actually talk about you flipping through pages and pages in those darn pouch books trying to find the CD you were after, back in the day. Now that was OG distracted driving.
Probably like 2010, 2011 was my last time? It would have been movies for our dvd player in our bedroom when my (now) wife and I were in University.
I got an iPod Nano for my birthday in the fall of 2005, which brought the burning cd factory that was my computer to a screeching halt. I’d still back up files and stuff using CDs, but it went from like going through a carousel of blanks a month to going through a carousel of blanks in like 3 years, within a very short period of time.
There’s been a few movies where it’s like almost instantly. Sometimes the screeners get leaked, and they tend to be higher quality. Final release quality is usually just before they start coming out for sale on the Google Play/Amazon stores, or when they start playing in the secondary market budget theaters. It is. It’s also melted all our brains though, like some people need to be parented, but I mean the absolute garbage shit. That’s morphed from people cleaning that up and the spam, to mods trying to enforce a whole bunch of unwritten rules and arbitrarily deciding what people can post or comment based on their own opinions. Those people are mostly neckbeards too, so that don’t help.
It’s pretty wack. I’m just hoping Lemmy flares up again, like it’s so heartening to see it taking off, but at the same time it’s a bit disheartening to see a lot of threads with only like 2-3 comments.
I just have to teach myself to not comment on reddit anymore, or interact with anything there. Eventually hopefully never return.

I think we’ve all suffered through a mod lecture or two. Nothing I love more than being lectured by people that are just absolute wastes of resources. There are starving children in the world, yet someone insists on keeping the insufferable and miserable mods of our cities subreddit fed and housed.

I just got a three day account ban, for threatening violence, by commenting that I hope someone got charged for running a red light. This is the second time this has happened in two months, all thanks to maniacs on our community subs.
It took me awhile to go back to that shit hole, and I’m getting a good reminder why. I just wish Lemmy would get a bit more active, and I can finally put Reddit to bed.

I use Dynamics365 as my accounting software to keep track of my own personal stuff, which is tied in pretty tightly with excel, I wouldn’t be able to export anything without it. Actually I’m not even sure I’d be able to use it at all really. I also use Word more often than one would think, just for general around the house things. My investments too, like I use excel exports to do analysis on tables of data, stuff like regression and 50 day/200 day plotting, and general chart analysis. Probably could maybe get away with that on the free stuff, I’m not sure.
You don’t need pro to do any of this. The normal Office Home license is sufficient. And for personal use, it would be a real son of a gun if you accidentally downloaded them off the office website and then went to https://massgrave.dev/ and by grave mistake typed in a few of those commands
