  • We NEED a recession. We NEED deflation. We need to get out entire economy back under control, and the more immigrants we bring in the worse it’s going to get. The solution to the population being too poor to have bulk excess cash to spend isn’t to import more people to bring their money with them, increasing inflation and the cost of living and housing crises.

If we stop importing people the population growth stops so we don’t have to keep importing all these supposed invaluable doctors and cleaners. It could even encourage people here to take up those professions.

I want to stop all immigration now, temporarily, and then when it’s viable bring it back in a more controlled way - and yes, that would include things like how likely people are to actually integrate into our culture and way of life.

Labor’s brought in fewer immigrants than the LNP has

Not lately they haven’t. Not since Covid. But again - I’m not saying LNP are the immigration stopping saviours. Like everything else this election cycle, they had a slam dunk and they bricked it in regards to immigration.

Our country can’t sustain this level of population, as we’re seeing. Homelessness, out of control cost of living, out of control house prices, etc etc. We shouldn’t be thinking of the economy first and foremost, that’s what got us here in the first place - the desire to always show a nice GDP growth above all else, even when real wages have gone backwards and everything people need is getting further and further out of reach.

We need a “great reset” of almost everything, including the economy. There’s just no way back from the damage Covid caused and the way the governments fucked it up in the aftermath. Wages across the board need to increase about 40% - for everyone - just to get back to pre-covid affordability for basic cost of living. That’s not happening, inflation is still making prices rise, as is higher energy costs, so people are falling further and further behind.

  • Current immigrants? Nothing unless they’re here illegally. Don’t extend any visas. Deport people who are caught overstaying their visa.

What does it mean for those industries? They can hire people that are still here. Those fields aren’t held together by immigrants lol. You’re just eating up the lies about “we need more skilled immigrants!”

No, we’re not cool with immigration from America or Europe. What’s hard to understand about this? Pause all immigration until we can get our shit together with the people we already have. You were trying to do a “Gotcha! You’re racist!” thinking that I only wanted to stop “brown people” from coming here, weren’t you? Sorry to disappoint.

It’s clear that our economy and infrastructure and everything else just can’t handle the amount of people we have. Realistically we need a few million population decrease - at least 5 million - in order to dig ourselves out of this situation. Instead Labor (and the LNP to a slightly lower extent) want to keep importing people so they get more tax and can make it look like the economy is flourishing.

  • You’ve just spouted their party approved talking points like a good little party member. None of their plans actually do any of that. For all their “trying” to spend billions on housing, they’ve built nothing. They’ve been in power!!! They built nothing houses! Trying to get cheaper electricity? They’re not trying very hard by tripling electricity costs and locking us in to higher prices by “renewables”! Help the environment by bulldozing all the trees to build endless non-recyclable solar panels and wind turbines? No one “doesn’t want LBGTQ people to exist” lol.

Almost everything this Labor party has done is a complete shitshow, NDIS included. Labor are now looking at taxing unrealized gains on people’s super ffs!

  • Almost 30, so you’ve voted what, 3 times? Yeah you’re new to this politics thing.

Idk about you but most people have decades of mortgages, so a couple decades is normal.

So you can afford a property with a mortgage now, or you will be able to get a mortgage “in a couple of decades”? Pretty significantly different things.

Ok so by the sounds of it youre way out where the cost of living increases havent been dramatic, neither has the house price issue. So you’re an outlier and not really representative of the majority. It’s a fact that the majority are struggling now more than ever, that there is a cost of living crisis, that there is a housing crisis, that there is a power price crisis. Even labor acknowledge this. They just won’t take any blame and keep saying that they’re the only ones that will fix it…with policies that make it worse.
