They do! It has been a while since I used one but there are ways to get them running well. I had to always check the ram limiting option and there were some permission issues I was running into when I used the default directory.

Then I also ran into issues getting the games to launch using Lutris, instead of adding an exe as a game I would have to run it through Lutris like it was an install exe every time… But I’m pretty sure I just had things misconfigured and was too lazy to try and fix it.

I didn’t even know BG3 had a Linux build, yet another W for Larian. On that note, this has been my experience with the majority of Linux builds. Most of the time it’s easier for me to just use proton, because when I see the Linux build I 1. Have to make sure it’s actually working properly and 2. Have to make sure it’s an up-to-date version; I’ve had multiple games with an old outdated Linux build alongside a shiny new windows release. Anyone else have this experience? Yeah in this context the port forwarding allows you to discover more clients in the P2P network. It’s by no means a requirement. Personally, I use MullvadVPN which does not support port forwarding, but I watch a lot of niche content that will have maybe one seeder at a time. I often wonder if there are peers I’m missing without port forwarding.

Also AFAIK Proton only blocks torrenting on their free plan servers, so the paid option may still be a good avenue. I think blocking torrenting on free servers is an industry standard for VPN. Is your priority affordability? It took me a long time to come around to paying for a VPN, as I hate subscription based models, but it has been well worth it.

Have you heard of or considered seedboxes? If your only use of the VPN would be for torrenting, these might be a better choice for you.

It lacks port forwarding so it’s not the fastest when it comes to torrenting. You’ll want one hosted outside of the 14 eyes, with port forwarding, hosted in a country that is not compliant with DMCA, and a strict no-log policy.

ExpressVPN or ProtonVPN paid plans will likely be best for you. But this is from memory so do your research on each to make sure the criteria hold true.

I also highly doubt their statement that more users were cheating under Linux than not. I’d like to see how they came to this conclusion. And if it’s so easy to identify who was cheating, why not just ban them if it’s .01 players? That’s like 7 or 8 bans. An insignificant amount of effort would go a long way here.

Another case of targeting piracy over a service issue. There was a time where Netflix had such a vast amount of content that my torrenting stopped all together. Good days.

The larger security risk is running ANY router with proprietary firmware. All this says is the US is okay with US companies surveiling you, just not China. It’s just like with Tiktok. Suddenly because China is involved its a data security issue, even though companies like Meta syphon 1000x more data from consumers. There needs to BE legislation passed around data privacy and collection as a whole, instead of targeting any company involved with China. If it’s truly such a security issue, we need it resolved for all companies in the US.

I too have seen the WearOS watch face subscription at some point. At this point, I’ve made it a personal stance to not use any subscription based models.

I’ve done this before, it works decently well. However, the streaming resources get muddied up quite fast. One I set up maybe a year or two ago is filled with broken links. And quality is very inconsistent.

So is it possible? Absolutely. Is it something I’d recommend if you want something consistent and a dependable way to watch? Not really.
