I interpreted it like this:
Waking up: Waking up, but not able to sleep still feeling unrested but not really sleepy.
Waking up waking up: Waking up despite unusual amount of sleep but still feeling well rested like usual.
Or the way I interpreted it:
Wake up wake up: Waking up and either not being able to or not wanting to get back to sleep.
Wake up: Just waking up at all, including when you just roll over and go back to sleep or go to the bathroom and immediately return to sleep.

lol! You can see a meeseks in that one episode where they’re walking past the arcade machines. It filled its purpose for the guy and disappeared lol.
