After a bitter rift with Donald Trump left many in Ukraine fearing that the US president had swung behind Russia again, President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the dispute head on: there’s nothing personal between me and Trump, he told CNN, but cozying up to Vladimir Putin would only “make him stronger.”

Ties between the US and Ukraine have badly deteriorated in recent weeks.

Zelensky said Trump was “on the wrong side of history” after he announced a deal to buy Russian fuel, upending international efforts to isolate Russia. Trump then waived some sanctions against Russia, drawing criticism even from his own party. Ukraine’s forces found their access to the Elon Musk-run Starlink service restricted.

Speaking to CNN from Kyiv on Thursday, Zelensky took a conciliatory tone, saying the tensions were “not about personalities” – but warned that Putin had no intention of stopping the war.

You can support Ukraine, without supporting busification of its citizens or Zelensky being a dictator.

How do you propose the Ukrainian government delivers ballots, administrates polling stations, and then securely processes ballots in the 20% of their country they don’t control, while preventing coercion from the occupying force skewing results?

Are fair elections possible when you can’t get results from 20% of the country?

But I know you’re not coming at this in good faith so I’m just gonna mute this thread. Godspeed yandex user!

That 20% already voted on secession a long time ago. They haven’t participated in any elections within Ukraine since 2014, results since having no bearing on them whatsoever.

If Ukrainians can vote in Eurovision singing contests then they can choose their own government.

I imagine the 80%, especially the ones being kidnapped, beaten and shipped to the frontlines by the Zelensky gestapo would like to vote. You’re saying the 20% outweighs the voice of the 80%?

The Banderites have their kapo stooge and won’t let anyone change that. Zelensky will never outlive his usefulness to them.
