They need to have meaningless busy work, they need to be distracted and occupied enough to not think about and not have the time and energy to build community and organize a societal revolution that would threaten the shareholders profits, or feel powerless to do anything about it.
Won’t be a problem soon, now that musk and hegseth have the autonomous warfare command the shareholders will have armies of drones to keep the peasantry away from their fortresses and any valuable resources in no time!
