Hans Zimmer is kinda transphobic tho… he agreed to score the new Harry Potter, even though it was made to get Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint’s faces off the branding because they’re trans allies.
I did a little googling (and recommend others do instead of just upvoting/downvoting on vibes), and it appears that a former employee claimed to have faced discrimination after coming out as trans. Whether that’s enough for someone to be bothered is a choice for them to make.
I’m personally not sure that signing on to the new HP is itself a very clear indicator. I will not support JKR’s projects these days, and for me, I have stopped consuming Harry Potter completely. I’m just saying that it can be a hard decsion where to draw a line and what lines not to cross.
I believe in bullying all celebrities who sign on, because that’s how we signal our displeasure and work towards a resolution.
When Nick Frost agreed to join on, I was upset. So were other people who like his movies. People told him so. And because of all that backlash, he issued a public statement to clarify his stance as an apolitical capitalist. And then that was enough to decide I don’t like him anymore. We communicated and reached a resolution. Public outcry is just the means by which we communicate with these celebrities.
