Donald Trump on Sunday called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt strikes on Russian diesel, saying the attacks are causing a fuel shortage.
Ukraine’s long-range strikes have been targeting Russia’s oil and gas industry for months, which Kyiv says both funds and directly fuels Moscow’s more than four-year-old invasion of its neighbor.
The Ukrainian drone campaign has caused fuel rationing across Russia, despite the country being a key oil and gas exporter. Other Ukrainian strikes targeted major Russian online retailers, bringing the war ever closer to the public.
And I’m asking: how? What actually, could Trump do differently? As I said, there’s nothing left to sanction. Ukraine is able to project attacks against valuable Russian assets. It looks to me that what Ukraine is lacking is missile/drone defense which just doesn’t exist. I mean maybe Trump could take them away from Israel, but good luck with that!
There’s probably other equipment/intelligence that the US could supply to Ukraine. Maybe something more productive than telling Ukraine not to attack, or to not try and bully Zelenskyy when he visits the US.
I mean the US is? I’m sure they are assisting (as is Europe) with intelligence/targeting. I’m saying, that all seems to be working fine as evidenced by so many successful strikes in Russian territory. The one thing that Ukraine desperately needs is air defence, and we’ve used it all up losing a fight with Iran! Look, fucckk Trump. He’s a total piece of shit. But the reality of his policy towards Ukraine isn’t much different from what Biden’s was. It seems pretty clear to me that US policy is to maintain a stalemate in Ukraine. They like keeping Russia bogged down, and the MIC making money.
