Benjamin Netanyahu has compared Zohran Mamdani, New York’s socialist mayor, to Iran’s supreme leader on a campaign billboard.
The poster in central Tel Aviv, paid for by the Israeli prime minister’s Right-wing, nationalist Likud Party, placed Mr Mamdani alongside the leaders of Iran, Hezbollah and Turkey.
“They want Netanyahu to lose,” it reads above the faces of Mojtaba Khamenei, Mr Mamdani, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Naim Qassem. “Don’t let them win,” it adds in Hebrew.
Sadly there have been a number of worse genocides in the 21th century. Some with numbers of deaths in the same order of magnitude as the whole population of Gaza.
Wait wait, what genocides over two million people? This century? Plural, you say?
Murdered, not displaced. But not quite 2 million at a single event I hope, but the order of magnitude is right.
