Explanation: I got bored of the mechanical steps involved with posting. Two of the people in my Discord/XMPP bridged chatroom remained posting here with access to all of the accounts we have been using, shared via a password manager account made for group socials. I stopped monitoring most of the internet except for my Google Reader equivalent, as I have been making more videos, writing, and have no desire to be unemployed. So it seems there was a large argument, or a large series of arguments, continued ad nauseam mainly by one member, resulting in mass banning of all accounts involved in tomfoolery, which were supposed to be left idle. The explanation I have received is very long and confusing, so I am going to skip making sense of it and reiterate I take full responsibility for this. I could have noticed something was going on and made a few quick threats to shut it down. I don’t want to minimize the wider political issues involved or any of the responses, or their tone. This just does not seem that important, though. This is incredibly self referential social media speak and I am having difficulty making sense of many, many parts of it.
My only intention with the news and history communities is, you guessed it: curate news and history. I cannot guarantee I will be an active moderator, it would be silly to claim that after something like this, but I will be a moderator, which these don’t currently have. If you refuse my request, please delete these communities. I have everything archived anyways.
Sorry about the fuss,

That’s over 40 communities.
Honestly I’d assumed those accounts were all alts of the same person, including @formlessodeon. Judging by the modlog, I think a hexbear admin had assumed the same. But it wasn’t all one person?
Posts & comments had become inscrutably esoteric, irony-pilled, rude, and combative. A royal PITA to moderate.
No kidding, I was thinking it was around eight. It just feels even more like littering! When I made those, posting was happening at a rate that could have prevented people from seeing infrequent posts in slow zones such as Geopolitics and Africa. The latter needs more posting, and covers everything else mentioned. If I were not reworking my entire input and output of information, we could decide whether it is worthwhile. If you don’t care about the clutter, I don’t care either.
As for the antics, those sound too familiar! Better suited for the websites which conditioned those responses. While there is no standoff, I have clearly lost the Mandate of Heaven. This is the only account I have changed the password on. If anything was not banned permanently, I encourage you to do so.

Expressing yourself too cleverly by half seems the to be the principle barrier here.
Unlikely to change anytime soon.
Suit yourself.
You might consider building an audience on Mastodon, where users follow personalities rather than communities.
