For the far right AfD (which hate Pride themselves, but are really good at double-think), this might be the event that tips the scale in the upcoming elections in Saxony-Anhalt so that they gain absolute majority.
For the left, which is already torn about issues like Palestine and the compatibility of absolute religious beliefs with an open society, this will widen existing gaps and further fracture the left wing movements.
I am always trying to see the positive side of things, but increasingly can’t ignore any more that the previous two years feel like a speedrun to a dark doomsday here in Germany.
The left isn’t torn about Palestine. The only people ‘torn’ are polite fascists who are losing social cover recently.
We are talking about Germany.
And here the focus on the Israel-Palestine-Conflict itself, as well as the specific standpoints to be taken are topics of constant discussion e.g. within “Die Linke”, the dominant left party.

How crazy it would be to live somewhere where large scale attacks based on sexuality, religion, skin color, or just against kids in general were so rare that after one happens folk wonder how they will ever recover and get back to normal.
It’s an unbelievable tragedy… My heart is with the victims and the queer community.
The whole situation reminds me of Pulse club shooting in Orlando. Similarly, Berliner murderer was known to the police, and I cannot fathom how and why was he let go from the prison.
