To some degree, sure. But I would argue the majority of police in the Nordic countries are not power tripping authoritarians. Some are, but the majority of them are professional and prioritize de-escalation.
I would argue otherwise. There may be less powertripping bastards than in the US, but that bar couldn’t be much lower.
Police don’t need to be individual assholes, if they follow illegal orders and are protecting their colleagues when they commit crimes the outcome is all the same. Their personal motivation behind it is irrelevant.

There are reasons as to why we don’t have a lot of reporting on police violence or situations getting out of hand in the Nordic area.
To be fair authoritarian attitudes are a problem in cops worldwide.
