I can agree with most of this but china aren’t know for being particularly interested in human rights and freedom of speech/press. And don’t whatabout me on the state of affairs in USA. USA and china both suck at human rights but I (I might be ignorant) think that the US in its totality still is better
It kind of depends on who you are though, or where you are.
I am not white and I do not have the same privileges as my white friends. If we protest, I tend to be targeted first. When shopping, I tend to be stopped by security for an additional check - they never do. When pulled over for speeding, I get asked additional questions that they rarely do.
And I have it good because of where I live - some have it much, much worse.
It might surprise you, but the one thing the CCP is afraid of, are the people. There are protests and demonstrations in China. And often they are successful in reversing a policy or getting a government official who thought of some crazy shit, fired.
These things obviously do not get reported in the west. Only the bad things because that affirms the view of China.
I personally witnessed the protests during the covid period in Shanghai. Not long after, all covid restrictions where lifted.

Partly because protests are still possible, big business is still accountable for everything they do, and politicians can still be taken down.
