To piggyback, here are the other current genocides.

There is Sudan, particularly the Darfur region in which non-Arab ethnic groups, such as the Masalit, Fur, and Zaghawa have been targeted for eradication by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Direct deaths from conflict 30,000 to over 150,000+. Indirect/Famine Deaths are estimated at 500,000+ (primarily children).

Myanmar (Burma), where the Rohingya Muslims are being eradicated by the The Myanmar Military. Initial Genocidal Campaign (2017) at least 9,000 to 25,000+ Rohingya deaths. Ongoing Post-Coup Civil War (2021–Present): Thousands more across multiple ethnic groups.

China (Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region) where the Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and other predominantly Muslim Turkic minorities are being eradicated by the Chinese Government. Death toll is inconclusive due to strict control of information by the Chinese government. There’s been an 84% drop in natural population growth rates in predominantly Uyghur regions. Another point of importance is the consistent (relative to anywhere else on earth) surplus of human organs for transplant in China.

Ethiopia (Amhara and Tigray Regions) where the Ethnic Amharas (and previously Tigrayans) are being eradicated by the state security forces and various regional ethnic militias. Tigray War (2020–2022): Estimated 600,000+ deaths. Amhara Conflict (2023–Present): 7,700 to 10,000+ deaths.

For reference the Gaza genocide. Direct Violent Deaths: Over 73,000 Palestinians. Presumed/Indirect Deaths: 10,000+ missing under rubble; tens of thousands more from disease/starvation to date.

None of this is true btw.

You’re right, anything critical or controversial about China is actually false. It is indeed a utopia in which there is no human suffering whatsoever. Anyone who says otherwise is only spreading propaganda because they’re jealous. Only things critical or controversial about other countries are true.

No, just the reframing of normal prisons as eradication camps when international observers have visited them as well as complete fabrication of data is false. No international group has ever found evidence of the US’ allegations that China is committing genocide.

We know what genocide looks like in a police state thanks to Israel. It looks like livestreams and constant video coverage. It looks like tens of thousands of refugees making their way out of a tightly controlled border. It looks like direct testimonials and actual victims with verifable residency in the area.

It does not look like US and Turkey born people claiming vague and unprovable family members totally disappeared. It does not look like AI-Generated log books from a province that went digital before the claim was made. It does not look like pictures from a drug rehab being passed off as an extermination camp. It does not look like claiming a crackdown on terrorists funded by the US and Turkey, as revealed in leaked CIA documents, is a racially motivated extermination campaign.

The CCP doesn’t exist, but for the CPC:

The Great Firewall was a good idea but its implementation is overall detrimental to China and the wider world, disallowing collaboration and allowing western audiences to have very little idea of how China actually operates besides apps like rednote which have a ‘wink and a nod’ agreement to bypass it.

The speed at which the upper classes are growing compared to the development of poor areas isn’t good, especially as we enter a lull in the available construction labor pool and it would be much better if we utilized the overabundance of labor we have now to ensure less labor is needed as the population shrinks overtime. This could be funded by moderate tax increases to corporations, especially those who have made most their money via exports.

Cliques naturally form in any place where there’s multiple humans and certain cliques in government appear to be harmful and allow corruption to flourish. While Xi has been great at fighting corruption especially compared to previous party presidents, this will end and the party has no concrete anti-corruption measures especially at the lower levels where corruption actually flourishes. If Xi loses the upcoming election or takes his retirement there likely would be a pro-western push, and with it much more corruption at all levels of government the same as the last pro-western push; I would love to see measures that eliminate that risk.

The current citizenship process is flawed at best, and should offer a path for non-citizens and people with greater than 4th gen ancestry to get citizenship without having to essentially be the next Mao. Especially given the One China attitude which encompasses many different distinct regions.

Stop weaponizing other conflicts to minimize what is happening in Gaza and palestine, you scummy hypocrite. Do you also complain about how much Ukrainian news there is on lemmy?

There’s space for everything. There’s really no global news coverage shortage for Gaza. Amongst my peers it’s honestly the only genocide they are even aware of. They’re always a bit puzzled to hear it’s not the only one.

This would have been an informative comment without the anti-China propaganda.

Nobody said that. Removed with your strawman.

You complain about too much politics on Lemmy with your 3 days old account and engage in rage baiting and concern trolling on political topics. How about you just don’t subscribe to political communities then? That’s gonna make live easier for everyone, you don’t see all the politics you don’t like and the communities don’t have to put up with your bad faith conduct.

Just a question, how do you feel about legitimate criticism of China? Are they anti-china propaganda or just legitimate criticism? Now for the sake of the discussion just assume someone gave you X criticism of China and it’s legitimate. I don’t want you running from answering by bringing up other stuff. It’s called a hypothetical and I’m sure you can manage. We can start your new discussion after this one is finished.

I guess we can’t stay on topic. It’s alright. It’s not your fault. Just blink twice if you can’t criticize china even if it’s legitimate and we will all understand.

Kind of like derailing a thread about Gaza to talk about other conflicts that are also bad?

Mostly that they don’t get much news attention at all, most definitely not in contrast to other tragedies.
